What does a crush feel like? How can you tell for sure?

I have no experience with that kind of thing - I only know what I’ve read in books. I think I might have one, but I’m afraid to say it.

It's a flittering of the heart one feels in the presence of certain company. "Butterflies in your stomach", I've heard it called.

Their presence makes you anxious, but you don't want to leave, or have them leave.

[A flittering of the heart... that definitely feels familiar. Hmm...]

Yes, I've heard that term too.

I do feel anxious sometimes, especially when she does or says certain things, but generally, it feels very comfortable when we're together. I love to spend time with her.

Well, do you ever feel a sense of longing when you're apart from them?

We’re together so often, it’s a bit hard to say.

There was a time when I couldn’t be with her, though. I did my best to support her from a distance but my heart felt like it was in a vice. I wanted to be by her side and protect her so badly.

Is that the same?

That sounds.

Much stronger, actually.

Oh really? So then…

[Much stronger than a crush? Wouldn’t that be…]
unfalteringwall: (Scandalous!)

Wait, do you mean to say that I’m in love!?

That's certainly what it sounds like! But I'm hardly an expert. But the way you speak of it, it's hard to imagine it being something so small as a crush.

[Oh geez. Geez louise. Could it really be???]

That’s quite a lot to process.

If I may ask, what do you think the difference is between loving someone and being in love with someone?

[ ... ]

When love is true, it plays upon the hart with hands both delicate and almost inhumane. It leads one's thoughts, leaving one restless when alone, unable to find themselves in comfort if not for the company of the one they love.

Loving someone can take so many forms, but being in love seems to shape most closely, and dangerously, with obsession.

I wasn't sure either at first. It's hard distinguishing friendship from love. When I found myself doing something I never would have before, for her sake, I think that's when I started thinking maybe I had a crush. (⌒_⌒;)

I guess... Maybe a way to know if you have a crush, is to ask yourself if you feel the same way towards all of your friends or only towards one person. Most beings have only enough room for one crush in their heart. (´。• ᵕ •。`) ♡

It really is difficult, isn’t it?

I don’t have many friends… Or at least, I didn’t before I met her. She’s a class of her own, though. My very best friend, certainly. I think that’s part of why it’s so hard to untangle the way I feel.

I'm the same. .。・゚゚・(>_<)・゚゚・。.

I barely have any friends and she was my first. How can I be sure what I feel is not just a side-effect of her being my first friend? Σ(‘◉⌓◉’)
Besides I know for sure there is at least one other person who loves her. (°◡°♡)
I'm too dedicated to my job, so I decided to let someone else confess to her. So long as she's happy, I'm happy. (* ^ ω ^)

Anyway you should go and confess to the person have a crush on right now (⌒‿⌒)
The dead are always filled with regrets about things they wish they had done but never dared to (◕︿◕✿)
So if you feel this is something you may regret the day of your death, you shouldn't hesitate and do it right now! (*˘︶˘*).。.:*♡

I think your feelings are valid too! Don’t write yourself off so easily! I do understand just wanting someone to be happy, though. That’s ultimately how I feel too.

You make a very good point, but still... I don’t know that I’m ready to confess just yet. I think I still need to understand my feelings better - whether she’s just my best friend or something more. I don’t want to jeopardize our friendship with something I don’t fully understand, especially if it’s as serious as the other reply I received makes it sound like it might be. I don't want to misspeak and hurt her...
