Hm... I think... like this and—

[The video feed turns on, revealing Aerith in all of her glory, wonderment gaze and more. She looks... bright. Cheery, all things considered.]

There we go!

[Lifting a hand, she wiggles her fingers in greeting.]

Hi there. My name is Aerith and I'd like some opinions onnnnn...

[She turns her camera to show off... her familiar, a Cerulean Drake.]

What I should name them. I'm still getting acquainted with things here, but this seems like a good place to start and a good way to get familiar with some of the other faces here.

I'm not very particular, but maybe something to do with the colour?

[She thumbs at her chin curiously as she looks over to it. No, she still doesn't have any ideas and up until now, she's just been calling it her 'friend.']

You'll have to let me introduce them then! I should have a final name by then. I want to let the drake pick one, but I secretly hope it picks Izumi. I really like that one and its meaning.

i like the name izumi

if zun is my familiar then i figure that means he's like family now, i want him to have a name to fit in with my family tradition
zunyan, zuko, azula, ozai, azulon, sozin.....
i guess izumi could fit too now that i think of it

but zun doesnt seem to mind his name. he'd probably come to anything though.. he kinda does whatever he wants.

I think that makes sense. Zun sounds like he has a very good companion for him.

[Zuko is the first person to really say anything about familiars the way she might be inclined to do so. She hasn't called her drake family yet, but it's been a thought in the back of her mind.]

I'm not sure how many would consider their familiars family, but I think that's an important relationship to establish. We were given these familiars for a reason, after all.

its very symbolically significant that i should have my own now
that my sister and i both have our own dragons together now actually....!! its really really incredible
feels like a miracle, i never even thought id ever meet one face-to-face back home before it actually happened, let alone live with one of my own now here

Aerith is... not a stranger to fate, even if she might not outright know that's what it is she comes up against from time to time. It's a heavily-weighted word, but it's also hard to argue against it.]

That's true. The familiars we have are familiars who chose us.

[Which means she was chosen by her drake, too. She wonders why something of such would have chosen someone like her. Perhaps it's capable of determining who and what she is.]

It sounds like you know a lot about dragons. I've never actually seen one, but I think I've read about them in books. Is your sister here with you, too?

yes. like i said.... dragons are important where im from. they dont exist anymore there. but they used to be revered.

[ He's bad at taking photos and it's a little blurry with poor frame composition, truly a Kodak moment wasted on this artless and technologically illiterate boy, but he sends a photo, nevertheless, of a pair of small dragons, just a tad bigger than a pair of ferrets or so, curled up together like snakes in one comfortable coil, seemingly asleep, basking on a rug in the sunshine. ]

[They're smaller than what she's imagined. But to be fair, the drake she's been bonded to is significantly smaller than the average drake she's seen in the slums.

There's something quite cute about the size. She's pretty sure she prefers them this way.

A smile curls back into her features at the picture as she looks it over.]

These are cute! I'm sure as dignified as they are, they might not appreciate me saying that, but they do look a little like my drake. [Just a little. Related in some way, perhaps, but certainly with their differences.] I'm glad that Zun has a friend, too. And that you do.

[Because some people simply are better off not being alone in a foreign world.]

I did mean your sister. Everyone needs someone, even if they don't want to admit it. It seems a little special to have family here with you.

You must be close to him.
It's always possible that he will be here in time. Since it sounds like there's plenty from your home world, I don't see why you couldn't have more.

i bet he will have a dragon familiar too. uncle would love that. we'd have a family of dragons! i'm sure uncle will name his something profound within the family tradition too, and zunyan and.. ....my sister's dragon.

[ He refuses to call it by name. He is so annoyed by its name. "You-know-who" has been its nickname lately, much to his sister's amusement, getting exactly what she wants from their dragon family funtimes. Even if he shows up, Uncle Iroh can't change that. ]

[She nods slowly as she reads.]

A family of dragons. You'd probably all become known for that, actually. If your uncle ever does show up, I hope you'll introduce me to him. Your family sounds interesting. And enlightening.

[Dignity. Honour. Integrity. Meaning. Zuko and his sister already sound intriguing.]

[ Oh, god, has he painted an inaccurate picture. How uncomfortable. If Aerith ever meets Azula, she'll be in for... an enlightening surprise. ]

well uncle is interesting and enlightening...... the rest of us are just
interesting.

but uncle is very wise and he would love to meet you and your drake
he would be fascinated
he used to be known as the dragon of the west when he was a great general in our military
he was said to have conquered the last dragons in our world
but really he lied to keep them secret and save them from being hunted

i only learned this because i met them myself.

[ He's always eager to talk about Iroh and dragons, though. ]

[She could argue that. As individuals, it'd be a little arrogant to claim themselves as enlightening. Not... that she'd normally call anyone that. She's not surprised that he's modest about his family or himself.

It only solidifies the smile in her mouth.]

It would have been a shame if the dragons had been hunted. I'm glad he was saving them instead. Until he arrives, I'll just have to bother the rest of you.

[And knowing Aerith, 'bother' just means be incredibly kind to. Kill with kindness?]

but uncle protected their existence by lying and saying he killed them
only uncle and myself and one other person from the outside world have seen the dragons
it was awe inspiring though

I'm really happy that you and your sister can have dragons here. I don't think they could have gone to anyone more suiting. You respect them so much and they're obviously very important to you.

[ Somehow even without mentioning it, it's clear his familiar poked its head up from its nap to peer at its master upon sensing this sentiment — excuse you, Zuko, Zunyan has a full life, thanks. Just because the dragon can't speak doesn't mean he can be spoken for! But Zuko will anyway. ]

my sister's dragon isn't very friendly
and.... neither is my sister
but maybe if zun makes a friend first the other dragon will want to be friendlier too

[ He's not holding his breath on its master. ]

[She can't help but chuckle a bit. Zunyan definitely has a mind of his own, not unlike her drake. The two of them will probably get along famously and maybe Zuko can teach her some tips on how to better their relationship.]

Considering we've all been brought here from our home worlds, it would be silly to expect everyone to get along. Some people probably don't want to be here at all. And you can't force people to be friendly. But sometimes a little patience goes a long way.

[And a push. Aerith knows a little about pushing, and on occasion perhaps can even pry a little too hard, even when she has the best of intentions.]

Why don't we take a look around Camelot in a few days? I'd like to look at their plants and just get to know the area a little better. I still feel like I'm orienting myself. It'd be more fun with a friend.

a lot of patience goes a long way with her.... but you're right. and an experience like this changes you a lot inside too. we were on another planet before this. we havent seen our home for many months.. but so much has changed between us and in our lives and everything. i dont know what to make of being here now. its not gone well so far. but.... who knows

[World hopping. At least, that's how it sounds by his explanation of the seemingly complicated background he and his sister have experienced. Aerith pauses for some moments, trying to imagine what that must be like. Undoubtedly, such experiences would change the people who experienced it.

Hopefully this world, this Camelot, is a kind place to them both. She has a difficult time seeing it any other way, though. Camelot has been nothing but wonderful since her arrival.]

I hope that means you'll make lots of good friends here, too. [Because no one wants or deserves to be alone. She doesn't feel a need to say it, but there's an undeniable sliver of truth there.]

Why don't you call me or send me a message when you're good and we'll take our familiars out with us, so they can stretch their wings and climb on things. And maybe you can tell me more about the adventures you and your sister have had.
