Video; UN: pinkmemory
[At first, there is only audio...]
Hm... I think... like this and—
[The video feed turns on, revealing Aerith in all of her glory, wonderment gaze and more. She looks... bright. Cheery, all things considered.]
There we go!
[Lifting a hand, she wiggles her fingers in greeting.]
Hi there. My name is Aerith and I'd like some opinions onnnnn...
[She turns her camera to show off... her familiar, a Cerulean Drake.]
What I should name them. I'm still getting acquainted with things here, but this seems like a good place to start and a good way to get familiar with some of the other faces here.
I'm not very particular, but maybe something to do with the colour?
[She thumbs at her chin curiously as she looks over to it. No, she still doesn't have any ideas and up until now, she's just been calling it her 'friend.']

[Really, she just prefers to be the insufferable one in any relationship.]
And believe me, I don't need riddles to keep me sharp.
no subject
[She says as someone who does, from time to time, like prodding at people, though it's not usually malicious, but rather curiosity. Intentions tend to be positive ones, even if they might not objectively be read as such.]
I'm sure he'll lighten up on you in time!
no subject
[She snorts, glancing offscreen towards the cat.]
You're way too optimistic.
no subject
[The optimism thing. Hasn't stopped her yet, and probably isn't going to this time either. Basically, she's too optimistic for her own good. Or just incredibly stubborn. Knowing Aerith it's a bit of both.]
If everything was always smooth sailing, we wouldn't grow as people or learn anything. A little adversity is good for us, even when it involves familiars antagonising us.

[She squints at the screen.]
What kind of magic did you wind up with?
no subject
[Aerith thinks on that a moment. It's not very different from what she's accustomed to back in Midgar. Maybe lacking in the elemental spectrum considering the lack of materia, but...]
Healing. Support? Regeneration and other such things. It's not too different from what I had access to back home.
no subject
Figures.
[A brief pause.]
Does it work like the magic you had in your world? Or does it just do something similar?
no subject
Aerith can't help wondering what she might mean by that.] Oh? [She asks, thoughtful and curious, before she tries to compare it to what she's been accustomed to in Midgar.]
Truthfully, I haven't really needed to use it, so I haven't practised it much since I arrived. I'm sure I'll get the opportunity to, though. Even if I don't, it wouldn't hurt to practise on absolutely nothing. I'm not expecting it to be too different from what I'm used to.
no subject
[Which she knows full well is hardly an answer.
She really does deserve a riddle-prone familiar.]
Wouldn't it be better to make sure you get some practice in before you need it? Sooner or later, someone's going to get an arm torn off by a troll.
no subject
Aerith laughs a little.] So there's a type.
[She does nod in agreement, however.] I agree with that, however... if I'm not injured then I can't tell if it's working. I'm not going to intentionally hurt myself just to test it out. I'm not going to intentionally hurt anyone else either. But the moment I see something I can use it on, I'll have a better idea of its potency. I know it's there. I know it exists. And I know that I can use it.
