[At first, there is only audio...]
Hm... I think... like this andβ
[The video feed turns on, revealing Aerith in all of her glory, wonderment gaze and more. She looks... bright. Cheery, all things considered.]
There we go!
[Lifting a hand, she wiggles her fingers in greeting.]
Hi there. My name is Aerith and I'd like some opinions onnnnn...
[She turns her camera to show off... her familiar, a Cerulean Drake.]
What I should name them. I'm still getting acquainted with things here, but this seems like a good place to start and a good way to get familiar with some of the other faces here.
I'm not very particular, but maybe something to do with the colour?
[She thumbs at her chin curiously as she looks over to it. No, she still doesn't have any ideas and up until now, she's just been calling it her 'friend.']

He looks a little put on the spot when she asks too, his posture shifting like he's trying to duck and disappear into the collar of his shirt.]
Oh.. um. Phoenix.
[He gestures at something off-screen, making a very careful "come here" motion with his hand. Before too long a very small, red-purple colored and awkwardly fluffy phoenix chick flutters over and lands on his two outstretched fingers.]

If he's nervous about it, she doesn't address it, so whether she notices or not is up for debate. His familiar shows up and she grins.]
Oh, what a pretty bird. [Cute, too.] They look very well-behaved. Where did you come up with the name for yours?
no subject
But to answer Aerith's question:]
That's what she is. A Phoenix. [At least he was fairly certain?] It's a mythological creature where I'm from.
Isn't yours similar?
no subject
She finds herself looking over to the drake and after a moment, she shakes her head.]
No. Pretty sure it's not mythological. We saw a few of them where I come from. Probably more than we would have liked to. So not mythological at all. It sounds like you're having a good rapport with yours.

I guess. [that they're getting along. She's friendly enough. He doesn't mind.] ...I like animals. Butterflies are especially nice. [There is the barest, smallest hint of a smile.]
Are you getting along with yours? If it was a problem where you're from then I hope it's not a handful here.
no subject
An animal lover, then.
[She observes with an approving smile. Animals are supposed to be good judges of character. It tells her that this guy is probably a good apple. Perhaps more so at the thought that he likes butterflies. That's not something she hears very often.
After some thought, she decides to nod.]
I think so. It's been helpful. Not as forthcoming as I'd like, but it just takes time. It'd be silly to expect us to be close immediately.

How long have you been here? It sounded like... [He pauses here, a little sheepish for assuming.] It sounded like you were pretty new. Not that I've been here that long, either.
no subject
[It's not that it's ever been said to her, but she knows her demeanour has been pointed out to her. Midgar isn't a very happy place, and she might smile more than someone might expect there.
She shakes her head before she continues.]
I haven't been here long. A handful of days? Everyone's been really helpful, though. It's been nice!
no subject
[Tamaki is not. One on one? Fine and good. Talking to a bunch of people at once? Not so good.]
So you ARE new. I thought you might be... I've only been here a month but if you need help with anything, I don't mind.

[Groups of people... Do children count? She's pretty good with children. On the other hand, it seems like Aerith is relatively comfortable in most environments. And if she's not, she's good at putting on a brave face.
At his observation, she nods. No reason to deny it.]
That's kind of you! I'm just getting my footing. Still figuring things out here. What I can do to help. What I should be doing to help. How many people from my world there are here. It's a little disorienting.
[Not that she's made it seem like that much since her arrival.]
no subject
I'm sure something will happen soon to show you what I mean. But... I think just getting your bearings is a good start. You can't help anyone else if you don't take care of yourself first.
[Which is very true. Aerith certainly seems to be doing her best in that regard.]

[Makes sense. Looks can be deceiving. So far, things have seemed strangely composed. There's more than likely more than what she's seen so far. She's sure there will be plenty of opportunities for her to put that magic into use. Even if there aren't Midgar slums, Turks, or Shinra to contend with.]
Sounds like I'll have plenty of time to become familiar with everything and to put my magic to use. Do they give us trials or things like that to see how we've progressed?
