[ It takes Mickey several attempts to get this right - this technology is WAY more than what he's used to. First the video keeps cutting out, then it's upside-down, but finally... the image stays! Relieved, Mickey waves a friendly hello from his room - to his right is a panting pup, and on his hat is his familiar, a brown sprite-like thing with tattered clothes. ]

Gosh, you think I got it right this time? I sure hope so... well, guess there's only one way t'find out!

[ Clears throat! ]

Hiya, folks! My name is Mickey Mouse! These are my pals, Pluto -

[ "Rowf!" Pluto happily barks. ]

And... uh, well... they told me this lil guy is my "familiar", not really sure what it all means, so I'm not sure what to call him. I thought about "Pluto Junior" -

[ Said familiar pinches Mickey's ear, hard, and Mickey visibly winces. ]

But, uh, as you can see, he... doesn't really like it all that much, so I guess if you have any suggestions when it comes to names... Oh, right! I almost forgot why I was usin' this thing in the first place!

See, back in my world, I'm a musketeer - guess it's what you'd call a "knight" here! And I still haven't really gotten a hang of this magic stuff... but I figured I should keep up my swordplay while I'm here, so I don't get rusty! Magic's useful and all, but the more ways you can help out the better, right?

So I was wonderin' if there's anyone out here who would be willin' to help with that - training with swords every so often! Thanks a million!

[And then there's the tip of antlers at the bottom of the video right before his familiar climbs up onto his lap, showing the top of her silvery lion head with an unhappy sound at not being the centre of his attention.] Ah, and this is my familiar. She also doesn't have a name yet.

[ Mickey's eyes widen when the familiar comes into view. ]

Wow! I've never seen anythin' like that before! She's a real beaut! What kinda familiar is she?

[Without a single shift in his expression, he considered not saying anything. But 'Li' is too common a surname. Besides, if someone else were to say something it may become an embarrassing situation.]

Ah, where I'm from, surnames come before our given names.

[He sighed a little, but it sounded a little fond and amused. There's a shift then he hauls her up a little so her entire face can be seen.]

She's a pixiu. They're auspicious creatures that bring wealth related luck where I'm from. I've never seen one myself either until I got here.

Oh, sorry about that! Guess it's one of those "culture clash" things...

[ He's heard about it before, but never understood it until now! He feels so worldly! But, more importantly, cute animals! ]

She's really pretty! Has she brought you any of that luck so far?

There's nothing to apologize for. With things as they are, it would be more surprising if no one makes a mistake at some point.

Who's to say? I definitely haven't become rich yet...but it has only been a month.

Still, it's not too bad in this place. There's a lot of interesting people to meet, and most of the ones I've met are friendly enough.

Well, the thing is... I'm just not used to being "alone". Ever since I was a kid, Donald and Goofy, my best friends, have always been by my side.

I doubt you will be alone for long. I imagine you will make friends easily here. They won't replace your friends from home, but you will find good company in this place.

They told me it's elemental. I'm not really sure about it... but if it all does work out, it would be nice to be able to do more, so I can help more!

There are teachers available if you want to learn. Elemental magic does seem like it would be useful if mastered.

I doubt they'd consider it a bother. This place will pay people to study full time. If anything, it seems they appreciate when people are proactive about learning.
