The camera is pointed at him sitting outside on a stump, clearly somewhere on the city outskirts where the civilization thins out and becomes countryside, but there is a building complex of some sort visible in the background.]

Hey. I'll make this pretty quick. Some of you might remember Tanaka. He was running an animal shelter and a stable while he was here, and I was working for him. But now that he's gone . . . I wasn't about to abandon the wildlife he was taking care of, but he was an Animal Mage. I'm not. And with all the animal refugees coming in after the crisis, there's a lot more work to do, and I'll have to expand.

[He pauses here, glancing behind himself back at the compound before he looks back at the camera—or at least, he faces it. One gets the impression he wouldn't be making eye contact if there were eyes there to contact.]

. . . I probably should've edited together some kinda tacky video with footage of adorable animals in need and some sad music, but I didn't, so instead I'll just say that if anyone wants a job, I'm looking for Animal Mages, Healers, and anyone else who's good with wildlife or has veterinary or equestrian experience. And if anyone finds a sick, injured, or stray animal that needs rehab or a permanent place to stay, you can bring it here. We can board and care for horses, too, if you've gotten one recently and need a place for it. Let me know if you're interested in helping out.

Trust me, this is for your own good. Because I know you, and you I know you wouldn't just turn your back on this world, which must mean you actually don't know what "the point" is. The point is that this world has all but used up its mana in the efforts to fight the Calamity. That means it needs to have that mana restored if it or any of us stands a chance of reversing the damage that's been done, and the way that happens is through us using our "magic." Every time you practice the magic you were given, you're helping recharge the planet. That's the point of learning.
