With the influx of refugees, it's clear that things are rather strained when it comes to resources such as space and other supplies.
I was planning on organizing a sort of soup kitchen, if you will. I could use more volunteers who can cook, though if you cannot and want to help we could use the extra hands.
I think we have a good amount of ingredients to start. Though if anyone has an open space where we can set up a kitchen that would be more convenient than setting this up outside of my home as it's a little out of the way from where most people are. I'm also uncertain how the pixies living in our yard would take to an influx of strangers showing up.
I understand the outcome isn't what some of us had hoped, but having something to keep busy with helps, I find. It is fine to grieve the dead, but we also have a responsibility to the living.

I can't say I have much of a force to offer. It's mostly just me and a friend of mine at the moment. As well as some dragon treasure I brought back from Lestari to fund things.
[Money makes the world go round, after all.]

Oh? That would be very helpful. I haven't had a chance to build my own capital back up after opening, after all.

I'm not a half bad cook, too!

[Good intentions are great but one cannot run something like this without some money...and volunteers.]
Still, any help would be appreciated. As long as our combined skills are enough to get something warm and filling ready for them that tastes fine.
[It just has to be good enough to eat. It's not like they're presenting this before an emperor that would execute them for failing to provide a life changing dish.]

I have a horse now too, so I can make deliveries to anyone too injured to reach the soup kitchen.

I am trained in cooking for my former employment but I also learned to cook many foods in my home village. I think that soup and stew is what I am best at. But I like to bake breads also. I was thinking of how I might help... your post came at a perfect time.
May I cook with you? If having me in the kitchen is not too much trouble that is

Soups and stews would be good, I think. They are filling but also cost-effective enough. [He doesn't have an endless budget, here...] Both would also keep well for a while as long as they're heated.
It would be no trouble at all. I could use all the volunteers that are willing.
{Those who want to help but weren't sure how may have been part of his target demographic. He knows many people back home and here who would not take this sort of failure well and he knows that at times like that, having something to do tended to make them feel more productive. But saying so would seem so manipulative...or worse, would seem too much like pity for some. Some kindnesses are easier to accept when one thinks it is mere coiincidence.
So he pretends it hadn't been his goal.]
I'm glad this came at a good time. Though I was able to offer some aid at Lestari, I can't help but want to do a little more as well.

I'll be troubling you. I'm afraid I've only looked for medicinal plants but if you need help, I'm sure my familiar could accompany you.

My familiar and I kind of came to an agreement, so I think I'll be OK without the extra protection. Unless your familiar is skilled like a truffle pig and can sniff out stuff.

[Though he'd have to calculate out the cost of the ingredients. Flour was involved, wasn't it? That wasn't too expensive but he's not sure about the rest of it...]
Do you already have a recipe that can be used? There are others who have experience with baking as well, perhaps they can help with the biscuits too.

Besides, I do not believe we need the best. The food shouldn't be bad, by all means but we're also not cooking for the King.
[A hearty meal is all they're aiming for here.]
Another pair of hands would be helpful, even if they don't happen to be the best.

I don't want to accidently burn a cake again!
[With that, he gave a sigh.]
Even if it wasn't for the king, it still needs to be good!

Do you require medicinal supplies?

Thank you for offering.

Unfortunately I know little and less about concocting anything appetising from them. Everything I make, I am told, is quite bitter.

That is a sort of noodle, am I correct? If we buy it a dry it's a cost-effective ingredient.
