In light of recent events, I have some things to say.

The loss of life in Celliwig is deeply regrettable, and while we were able to save many from Lestari, there were still those who did not survive. I know that many of you may be feeling that you did not do enough.

[He certainly feels all those losses, for civilian casualties are always regrettable.]

But we may also look upon these failures and learn from them. Those who fought the dragon now know how it behaves and what its weaknesses are, so if it returns, we will be more prepared. Mourn the dead, but look upon these losses as a way to better prepare for the future, so we may not repeat our past mistakes.

Thank you for this message. We need more of this over people pointlessly antagonizing each other over "what ifs."

I can understand going over the catastrophes and thinking about what might have been done differently, and how we could have succeeded. But, all we can do now is reflect and channel those thoughts into asking ourselves what can we do next time.

I agree. We should transform our past mistakes into chances at future successes.

I'm afraid however that many will lose morale or start infighting.

Perhaps. Let us hope that it does not last long or they realize what is more important.

We will have to set a good example for them, and remind them why we were called upon to this world.

I'll admit, I was going through something when this all happened, and didn't participate in the fighting effort... I thought everyone would do fine without me. And realistically, my presence alone wouldn't have changed anything.

But seeing what had happened... I realize I can't let my emotions get in the way of what's important.

[admiralchiss]

In this case, it would have taken more than a single person to win the conflicts with the dragon or stone giant, yes. I fear that those failures happened because there weren't enough warriors taking part in either conflict. However, do not discount the fact that in some situations, even a single contribution may turn the tide.

What do you think is most important right now, in the wake of these events?

Doing my best.

Even if my contribution wouldn't have changed much... If twenty people like me had done their best, then perhaps things would have taken a different turn. Some people would still be alive right now and Celliwig wouldn't be in ruins.

[admiralchiss]

My thoughts exactly. Let us hope that those who chose not to fight will learn from their mistake next time. We should also more evenly distribute our forces next time, for I fear that may also have played a part in how these events turned out.

Mhm. We need better organization. The problem is that Arthur and the others give us missions without any direction. Ideally we'd need a few amongst our number to step up and take charge when it comes to such things...

But that is tricky, too. We'd need someone who is skilled when it comes to organization, who is a good strategist and who would be charismatic enough for everyone to follow. I fill the "good at organization" spot but that's about it. And even if someone like that showed up, we would realistically have no reason to trust them.

Perhaps there are those already here with the skills and personality that you describe, but they currently lack rank and authority. They simply need an opportunity to demonstrate their leadership skills.

Mhm. I have been here for a couple months now, and I have yet to see anyone earn that much authority. I think if they got knighted, it would give them more authority... But they'd also need to like, shine during a mission I guess. With so many people from different backgrounds, rank alone would mean little.

Yes. Some of us were quite influential or had some manner of military rank in our own worlds that do not mean much in this one.
