We do not have boyfriends where I come from
we have titles for people's vocations or the relationship and responsibilities people have to one another

For example, a tanner makes leather
Father has a duty to protect, teach, and guide his children
His son or daughter has a duty to listen, to ask questions, and to get the father things he asks for (like cup of tea or hammer)

So boyfriend means, love the other person?

as for that, i already had experience with fire magic prior to here, so it took me little time to start mastering this. i can't go as intensely as id like since my mana well is more limited in this world, but i can definitely put on a hell of a show if u let me.

1. Respect and support their partner. Communicate. Generally it's good to find out what expectations are in place especially if both people in the relationship are from different worlds. If they ARE, find someone from their world, or a world similar and ask them to help you figure out expectations. Most people in an effort to create relationships with a boyfriend will come across as easygoing and not be upfront about their expectations, but everyone has them.

2. Whether they stick up for themselves and others. I am drawn to people who set boundaries, and... unfortunately, are stubborn. I am too, so it feels fair that I'd want to be with someone like-minded.

3. Yes and no! I feel like I was given them to help this world help my world. They are not mine. I feel like I rented them and am customizing them to make them comfortable. I like my familiar and how they've taught me to use my magic. At least that feels more personal.

These are good answers. I think a person who is smart but takes risks is good-- they won't take risks that aren't safe! And if they are a nice person, who takes risks, you know they won't risk doing things that are harmful to someone else.
