Video // un; E.A Poe
[The video feed cuts to a rather pensive looking man, somewhere in his forties. He could be heard mumbling about odd machines, and something about not really expecting the afterlife to look like this. Quite a few people should instantly recognize him.
And without any warning he starts mutter a poem to himself.]
Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow —
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.
I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand —
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep — while I weep!
O God! Can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
Bah, whatever. Greetings to all of... whatever you all are. I am Edgar Allan Poe. Here to join you all in this fever dream.

Too bad Helena's not here. You could start a chronodisplaced-authors club.

[Hey, since she seemed to like the poem he'll go ahead and rein in his bite a bit.]
no subject
There might be other writers here, for all I know, but I'm definitely not one of 'em. Still, that poem will probably bring them out of the woodwork.
no subject
Oh there are writers everywhere, or so called writers in any case. Some are better than others, but I've yet to meet a person who was incapable of writing in some form or another.
[In other words, girl you be sellin' yourself short, girl. Probably, she's most likely better than most of everyone else he's read or listened to.]
But I'm not interested in them as of yet. I'm more interested in learning about everyone here in general. So that I might better understand what manner of madhouse I've found myself in.
no subject
[Now, if you want her to write computer code, she could work magic with that before she got here. It just wasn't literal magic at that point.]
Anyway, hi, I'm Claudia. And this is, thank everything, not an actual madhouse or I don't think I would've stopped panicking yet.

No way, like the real Edgar Allen Poe? And this place is too dumb to be a fever dream, sir.
Re: video; UN: firstfallen
[Congrats Chara, you got on his good side.]
Nonsense on this place being "too dumb" to be a fever dream. I've had plenty that were far more ridiculous than this.
no subject
Cool, and yeah actually this place is pretty dumb. Like they had a thing where we got tested by some really silly tests, one even killed you.
no subject
Really? And what might those tests be, and should they concern me at all?
[Either way he certainly wouldn't take part in them!]
no subject
It was months ago, so no not really. Unless they decide to test us again, but the dying one was like you got trapped on a beach with another person and two glasses. One of them had poison in it, and so one of the two had to drink it to be able to leave.
[Just leaving out the fact that it didn't really kill you, just made it look like you died.]

Greetings my lord Edgar Allan Poe... What song were you reciting if I may be so bold to inquire?
no subject
It's titled "A Dream Within a Dream", young lady. Oh, and do drop the "lord" bit. Such titles are best left to those European noble tyrants that continue to haunt the world. Mr. Poe is more than enough to suffice for me.
video
You are... a poet, sir? That was quite good.
no subject
["Great" he says.... He does give a small tilt of his head. At the very least he was in a good mood right now!]
At your service my dear.
GOD I'm sorry this is so late
Ah, forgive me for having heard you mumbling a little before you began the recital, but... you mentioned the afterlife? You have already passed?
no subject
Hm, yes. I'm quite dead. Or perhaps near death. It's all fuzzy, but I know for certain that I am dead.
no subject
[How curious. From what she has heard, there are some here that do remember the events leading up to their death. Is he simply assuming that this must be death based upon the circumstances?]

[ Wait, what? Really? After Beowulf they get a legendary poet? ]
The Edgar Allan Poe? Oh my gosh...!
no subject
Indeed, I am The Great Edgar Allan Poe.
[Great, he says.... But excuse him as he dips his head a little.]
I must admit, I'm quite thrilled to know just how many young people here are well read enough to know me.
no subject
Um, ahaha..! I was President of a Literature Club back home and I host a Literature channel here. [Wait, did that mean she could theoretically invite Edgar Allan Poe as a guest on her "youtube" channel? Gosh, the click-bait title wrote itself!] It's a real honor to speak to someone of your talent and skill.
no subject
A literature club? Ha, how wonderful; and to continue it here. To think I've met yet another love of the written word. [She's totally hitting all the right notes!]
I would certainly say that the honor is all mine, young lady. Tell me, is there anything that you'd wish to ask of me?
