I have certainly heard of creatures, and of castles, but may I assume that you are referring to something specific? If so, then I have not, but you have made me quite curious!

I am, yes. A book that I found at a local bookstore. At first I thought it might be some sort of field guide or a bestiary, and in a way it is that, but for a game. I never thought that games could be played with books!

Yes and no. It has information about both, but so much more.

Ah, so it's a sort of military codex, is it? I'm not familiar with that particular volume, but the academy where I studied had many tomes like it, covering all manner of warcraft.

May I ask what sparked your interest in this particular one? I shall certainly keep my eye out for it.

Oh, one of those. I've never heard of that one, but they are a pretty popular thing around some grounds. I've never played one before though.

Yes, it is! At first, I thought it might be a field guide of some sort, but it sounds like people get together and dream up different worlds, then act out certain roles. I'm still reading through it myself, so I may be wrong.

Oh! Then yes, I have heard of it. I haven't played Creatures and Castles specifically, but I've tried other games with similar premises. Though their names slip my mind at the moment... [ (which is my (the player's) flimsy excuse for not coming up with parodies right now) ] I think they're a lot of fun! It's a good way to practice your improv skills.

I thought so as well! That was part of the reason why I picked it up, the title and cover intrigued me. But you are correct, it is a game. I'm trying to figure out what sort, it seems like there may be some strategy involved, along with a bit of reenactment as well.

No, nothing like that. I stumbled upon it at a shop nearby and thought someone might have heard of it.

Wait... hold on just a tick. I don't know much about it, but there used to be an old Altean game that sounded something like this. I think Coran called it Monsters & Mana?

Is there something called a Lore Master involved?

I don't see anything about a Lore Master, but it does appear to be a game of some sort. I believe someone called a Castle Keeper tells a story, and the players act it out.
