[Boredom is a hell of a drug, and also Chara should probably try to make friends on this thing.
And why not try to make friends that are around their own age?]
So like, I know this place just grabs whoever it wants right? So I guess I'm just kind of wondering how many of us are kids, like under the age of like... Fifteen? Or whatever, if you think of yourself as a kid I guess you count?
Cause I remember a girl on here trying to set up some sort of kid gang, but that seems silly, but I thought why not see how many people here are kids too.
[They feel like they're babbling so they're just going to stop now.]

[Hey, they don't seem to mind? In fact, how Alberto is reacting seems to just make Chara happier. And it's mostly because everyone so far has been sad when they told them about the whole being dead thing.]
It kind of sucks, so I don't recommend it to anyone.
no subject
[ He says flatly. Like, duh, of course you wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Who'd take that recommendation, anyway?! The wheels in Alberto's head are still turning, though, and even through his dubious, narrowed gaze, he's at least relieved to see this kid's... not taking it too hard, apparently...? So he doesn't feel too awkward asking more questions. ]
So— we're not all dead, right? Just you? How do you know you're dead, anyway? I mean— do you remember, or...?
[ Remember dying or remember being dead, he's not clear on. Although even sea monster society had superstitions like these, Alberto's never really believed in ghosts too much, so he's more likely to accept this as something more... complicated than that, from the sounds of it. He just hopes he didn't miss something in the welcome wagon spiel it occurs to him he probably should have paid a little better attention to. ]
no subject
[Actually for Chara there are some people they'd like to see dead. A lot of people, human people. But that's neither here nor there right now.]
I know I'm dead because I remember dying and the boring void of nothingness from being dead, I can't speak about anyone else here. But I'm pretty sure you don't have to be dead to end up here, if you're worried about that.

[ He makes a pinch with his fingers, the sarcasm not even turning off for something so... grave. No pun intended. He's still searching for each word as it comes out of his mouth, eyes darting to the side as he tries to find some footing here. ]
So, then— uh— are you, um... glad to... be— alive... again?
[ How the fuck do you proceed with a conversation like this gruihsdjnk he's pretty sure that's not the right thing to say but... is there one!? ]
no subject
[If their grin could get any wider, it would be as wide as humanly possible right now. In fact, their expression is probably a little off-kilter right now, it's been a while since they've gotten to have someone so off guard.]
Of course I am, who wouldn't be happy to be alive?
[It's kind of the truth?]
no subject
I dunno. Maybe your life sucked?
[ He shrugs. Too blunt? ]
...So how'd you die?
[ Too blunt. ]
cw casual talk about suicide
Let me just tell you, don't eat a ton of buttercups. It's a horrible way to go.
all good here, ty tho!
[ Okay, so if there was question if Alberto was being sensitive enough before, uh... We've found an answer. ]
no subject
[Hey, Chara doesn't seem bothered. In fact it's taking everything they have to not start laughing.]
no subject
[ Alberto's really trying to play along here, he is. It's just. A Lot. ]
...So why did you eat a ton of poisonous flowers, then?
[ The question still stands. Alberto has eaten many things he shouldn't have — found a fair few poisonous plants that way, himself, in fact. How is that gonna "save" anyone? Let alone everyone? This kid's not cooking with a full pot of pasta. ]
no subject
[As if that makes any sense.]
Or I guess to put it the long way, to save the monsters I was living with from being trapped underground for longer than they needed to be. It didn't work out though.
no subject
[ Wrong. What the hell is this kid talking about! That's putting it the long way?! But... they died trying to save other people. The monsters who they were living with — sounds like a monster family took them in, then. Something like that. Context clues. ]
...Sounds like the monsters weren't really that monstrous, huh. If you were trying so hard to save them.
no subject
[Chara says that practically automatically, as if it should be common knowledge.]
no subject
[ Alberto's unfazed, like that is common knowledge. ]
What kind of monsters were they? Sea monsters or, uh—...?
[ Actually, he doesn't know any other kind of monsters. His world has been pretty small until recently. ]
no subject
[The most basic way of explaining the Dreemurrs, really.]
There are other monsters though, none that I would call sea monsters though...
no subject
[ He says this with an odd sheepishness, glancing away, but he's feeling his oats again pretty quickly. ]
Hah, but a Boss Monster sounds cool, though! Were they like— the bosses of all the other kinds of monsters?
[ He sounds pretty excited about this, not put off at all now. Learning about other kinds of monsters is just as interesting as learning about land monsters and even more novel. He's not even all that interested in alien sea monsters, frankly, so... Boss Monster has a nice ring to it. ]
no subject
[And Chara knows a lot of Monsters, so admitting that is something.]
And yeah, mom and dad are the Queen and King of Monsters back home! So they kind of were in a way the boss.
[Chara puffs up in pride, they like talking about their monster family so this is a good subject.]
no subject
[ Chara should puff up with pride! And it's well-received. Alberto's... far from monster royalty. And feels a lot less inclined to brag about his family lately. ]
no subject
[Chara doesn't consider themselves anything special, but the Dreemurrs are.]
no subject
[ He's a little bit delighted by this. ]
Man, that's so cool~ Sea monsters can't take humans in where I'm from. Y'know. Water. Air.
[ He waves a hand at the camera limply, gesturing to... everything. But his tone remains nonchalant as he asks even more probing questions, fascinated by Chara now. And clearly they didn't react much to his previous probing questions, so... It's fine. ]
Do humans hunt monsters where you're from? Is that why they were trapped underground?
no subject
[Heh, the excitement is contagious.]
Yeah I get you, and no. They didn't hunt monsters, but there was a war and the monsters lost so that's why they were put underground.
no subject
[ He shrugs. At first it seems like he's not surprised because, well, humans are better or whatever, assuming he's as human as he looks. But then he drops an important clue about himself, maybe filling in a gap here indirectly: ]
Everyone where I'm from just associates humans with murder, and like, kidnapping, and stuff — mostly murder, though. But there was never any sea monster-land monster war... Most sea monsters just hide from them.
[ He waves a hand dismissively. He's not "most." ]
no subject
[Chara doesn't sound happy about that bit of history. And if they catch that slip they don't show it.]
Well, that's mostly what humans are good at. They're not the most compassionate creatures, after all, humans. But I guess that might actually change since the Monsters are out of the Underground now, or were before I ended up here.
no subject
[ He's smiling at that. A genuine, warm, bright-eyed smile — not the cockeyed smirk he's worn half the conversation. ]
Heh. That's great. Y'know, I think things are going the same direction where I'm from — I mean between the land monsters and the sea monsters. There are definitely some compassionate humans, though — at least in Portorosso. That's the human town where I lived. Fishing village. Long tradition of hunting sea monsters there...! But— I think that's changing now...
no subject
[Chara just seems kind of flat now, this is a subject they don't tend to dwell on.]
Uh huh... So, did you have any part in this change? As a sea monster, that is.
[What with how Alberto is talking and saying a human town and other slips, Chara is going to take a wild guess that this kid isn't human at all.]
