[ Langa appears on camera and he just looks sort of -- straight-faced and serious. On top of his head is a yeti who will be staring into the camera, but quiet, the whole time. ]

Hello, I'm Hasegawa Langa, and I'm looking to get a job here.

I worked in a skate shop at home.

[ He reaches up a hand and gently pets the yeti on top of his head who seems very happy with the affection. ]

But, I don't really mind any sort of job. I have healing and light magic if that helps anything. I am fairly new here and I would like to move out of the inn as soon as possible so my friend and I have space.

[ He tilts his head, looking almost confused for a moment. ]

Also, my familiar has taken to tripping me sometimes without any explanation. The rest of the time, he likes to attach himself to my side, so it doesn't appear to be for any dislike. I'm not sure I understand why.

[ He's dead silent for a moment and then there's a small smile. ]

Oh. Two questions:

What is your favorite place to eat here?

If anyone has any neat locations that might be fun to skateboard, can you pass along the location information?

Have you ever worked in the service industry?

If you mean something like a restaurant, no.

I've only had one job, and it was at a skate shop back at home.

[Oh good lord. Then again, he's made do with worse.]

Well, in a few weeks I'll be opening a restaurant here in Camelot, if you're interested.

Ah, congrats.

[ He thinks that's the way to go. ]

I do learn things pretty quickly. [ Not a lie, when he wants to. ] So I'll do any job preferred.

Do you do well in semi-formal environments?

Yes, I do.

I take it your restaurant qualifies as semi-formal, then.

Business casual for customers at the very least, with it going more formal the later it gets.

Oh, I can handle that. I'd definitely be interested, then. Like I said, I'm a fast learner, so I'd be glad to do whatever is needed.

Then hopefully I'll see an application in a few weeks!

I can't really help you with the job, I work at the music shop. But I'm sure there are other places that need workers.

About skating- skating down the white cliffs? That place near the lake that we have to climb up for miles on foot? Looks dangerous to me but if you're experienced then it should be fun.

I'm sure I will find something. I've realized asking can't hurt, so I'll start here.

Ah - I haven't tried that yet, I'll have to. I've not been skating that long, but it sounds fun. I probably would have when I arrived if I had my board on me at the time.

[ He likes danger. ]

The landscape here isn't ideal for skateboarding once you leave the city, it seems.

Well shops always ask for more clerks, so there's always that. I dunno what you're into so I don't know what to suggest.

If you're pretty new at skating maybe you shouldn't go for the cliffs...

[Uenoyama, what did you do!?]

No, it's a lot of forests and sand and such.

Oh. I've skated off of a cliff before. I think this one might be safer.

[ Unconcerned, clearly. ]

Yeah. Maybe we'll see something indoor sometime.

...are you sure you are a beginner then?

[Do beginners start off with cliffs!? Isn't that dangerous??]

You should snoop around a little, I'm sure you can find something. There's a gym I think?

Well, I haven't been skateboarding that long. I'm a beginner compared to everyone I've met.

[ Well, who skateboards. ]

I'll keep my eyes open for something. Indoor with how things are here would be a better option, probably.

Then... maybe you shouldn't try the cliffs out. I don't want to be responsible if you break your neck.

[It is! Stop it! He didn't know Langa was a beginner!]

There are those guys who catch you on that cliff, so I think it'll be okay.

[ Heh, he is maybe - just a tiny bit amused. ]

You've been having trouble with your familiar too?!

[ Perhaps it's said with just a tad too much excitement. After all, it's not something anyone ought to be excited about - and yet here Minako is, her eyes wide and almost sparkling.

Look, she's just glad to not be the only one in this boat. ]

Geez, I was starting to think I was the only one in this entire place!

Yeah, he's been tripping me into my friend a lot. I'm starting to think he doesn't like my friend. Which is weird since you'd think he'd be courteous around my best friend.

[ yeah, that's why. the yeti almost seems like he's rolling his eyes from atop langa's head ]

It's good to know others are having problems.

[ Ssh, yeti, the humans are busy talking here right now! Or rather, they're busy starting a problems-with-familiars support group, apparently. ]

You think he might not like your friend? [ It does sound a little odd, but then again, Minako hardly understands her own familiar's actions either.. ]

.. do you think he might be jealous?

[ He settles, laying down on Langa's head and starts to sleep. The guy doesn't seem to get it anyway. ]

I never considered that. I hope he likes Reki! He's my best friend so we're together a lot.

[ Wait, wait -- ] He might be jealous! But that would mean he'd just want to be my friend, too, right?

Yeah, of course!

[ That's the whole idea behind it potentially being jealous, Minako thinks. Maybe it just wants Langa to pay all of his attention to his familiar instead..

But then again, she's probably not the best judge of character when it comes to familiars, considering her trouble with her own. ]

Maybe he just doesn't want you to split your attention like that. Considering it's your familiar.. Maybe it wants your bond with your familiar to be the strongest one you have?

Oh. I'll have to try to be more considerate of his feelings, then. It seems a little unfair since I knew Reki first, but he's really understanding so he'll get it.

[ Yeti seems to think they have this all wrong, but he's not at least protesting anymore, just a deep sigh and sinking to drape himself all over Langa's head and shoulders. ]

But if I can get my familiar and I on better terms, then I can figure the rest out, I think.

Perhaps someone who's better at actually understanding familiars will come along soon to help.. ]

Sounds like the solution to your problem is easier than mine then. [ Minako sighs after saying it. ] Mine always acts the same way, but it's not a good way. I wonder if they have some sort of familiar school I could send him to.. You know, like how you can get classes for your pet if it misbehaves!

[ He's just going to sleep here. It's fine. ]

Oh! I know those. Obedience classes. They sometimes post graduation videos on youtube. [ wait ]

They probably don't have them for Familiars since a lot of them can talk and don't seem like... pets. But more like friends.

What is yours doing?

He keeps running away from me whenever he sees food.

[ For one. But judging by the way Minako says that, she could complain about this familiar for ages.. ]

And he never listens to me! Not to mention he just sleeps for most of the day, and he's so heavy to move around! What does he think I am, his slave?!

I can't imagine running from food.

[ Said - totally seriously, of course. ]

He might think that you are here just to serve him, it's hard to say. It sounds like he's kind of lazy. What is he?

[ It does kind of feel that way - like she's the servant here, rather than him. It makes Minako groan a little in frustration, though she doesn't totally forget to answer his question. ]

He's a cat. Or, well, he's kind of big for a cat, but not to a ridiculous extent.

I heard cats can be like that.

[ Given, he's never had a pet cat, but he does hang out with Miya and he seems pretty similar to a cat. ]

But that's usually why people like them.

Well, I had a cat back home too..

[ .. a talking cat, but look, she figures that those details are just going to make this whole story even more confusing. So she keeps them to herself - for now. ]

And he wasn't like this at all. Sure, he could be annoying sometimes, but it still felt so much more like we were a pair, you know? I wonder if it'd even be possible to get as friendly with this one as I was with my cat back home..

What's a skateboard?

Maybe you can find a shop here you like and you can ask to help out there? I help out with Aerith's flower shop! And I'm looking at setting up something of my own so I can move out of the inn too.

I like the bakery though! But I guess I do have a sweet tooth....

[Colette finds a way to have fruit with most all her dishes somehow.]

It's a board with four small wheels that you ride. You have to have good balance, and smooth surfaces work best.

The bakery is good, but I like most food I eat.

Good balance.....ah, I probably wouldn't be very good at it then. I don't think we had those back home in Sylvarant though.

[She gives a nod to that though. She isn't really all that picky either.]

I just don't like bell peppers.

Ah - well, it does take practice, too. I fell a lot when I first tried. I've never heard of a place that didn't have them.

[ He's not doubting her, but it's just something he's never heard. ]

Oh? Do you like red peppers?

[ He's really asking. ]

Sylvarant wasn't all that advanced. Maybe I'd have a better idea if you showed me though? This skateboard.

[It sounds simple enough in theory but she doesn't recall there being anything like that back home at least. Not that she recalls going to Tethe'alla yet either though.]

No. I mean, I hate green ones especially but. I don't like any of them.

Sure, I can show you if you want to see it. I hope I can find an indoor park or somewhere a little more friendly for skateboards before too long. Grass isn't ideal.

Oh, there's so many good things with peppers. Especially pickled on burgers. Some people put jalapenos in poutine.

Is it the spicy?

I'm not sure how good I would be at it, but at least. If I see it I might have a better idea on what you're talking about, is all. I guess with the wheels, you'd need proper paths that would be smooth, right?

Poutine? What's that? But ah, I've just never liked them. The only time I ate them otherwise aside from trying them at first, was when I lost my sense of taste.

To be honest, I don't think a lot of people are probably good at it at first. I wasn't.
[ He manages to hold his tongue about how great Reki is at least? Small favors. ] Yes, that's exactly it.

Poutine is like...french fries with cheese curds and really hot gravy. The cheese gets melty. It's delicious and considered junk food.

But some people like to add other stuff. I like the original version the most. It's a food from where I'm from.

I trip over all the time as it is. Let alone with something like that.

But I've not tried that before. With gravy. It's. An interesting combination.....? I guess I tend to prefer sweeter dishes myself. But I wouldn't say no to at least trying it? There was this gathering earlier where people were able to figure dishes from home for everyone to try!

Ah, that's okay. I think.

Oh. Was there? I think I missed that, I got here last month. I'm sure a lot of people haven't tried it, though. There's people from a lot of different places.

But I think most things are worth trying even if you don't like them.

Mm, it might have been a bit longer ago than that. But it doesn't mean we couldn't try something like that again! Assuming we can figure the right ingredients I mean.

I did still eat peppers at one point. But that....mm, that was when I couldn't taste anything, so.

[It isn't like she goes around eating them all the time now. Now, she has her sense of taste back and avoids them again.]

You couldn't taste anything?

[ Hold up - that sounds awful. ]

A lot of things changed about me during my Journey. All that is a long story. But essentially, I was becoming an Angel.

[Gradually giving up more and more of her humanity. Colette was used to it. She just took it as a part of what it meant for her to be able to save Sylvarant. For her home to prosper and everyone to be happy. Even if it was a lie in the real intentions behind the Chosen System. Kratos knew more on the details there but that hadn't been easy to learn and process.]
