[ there's some shuffling that goes around before the camera is rotated, and there's the sound of teeth closing on plastic. then the camera is turned to show noctis lucis caelum, from the waist up. he's a young man of twenty, with dark hair; he's wearing a black shirt with a skull pattern, with black pants and a black jacket. (there's a theme here in his clothes). ]

...Hey. I'm Noctis.

[ he waves the hand that has a glove on it, painfully awkward, but continues on. ]

I dunno how the rest of you feel about coming here, but I'm not too excited about it. It seems pretty clear if you wanna make it back home, though, we have to help save this place. The way to do that is learning how to use whatever magic you were given.

So, for those of us whose magic is more practical - like mine, which is Light - I'm gonna be hanging near Brocéliande Forest, to train. Not in it, I'd rather not get stuck in another time loop, but it's got some pretty open space between the city and it.

[ he steps back so that the camera can see the spot he's indicating. ]

... I'm also not like, the master of combat or whatever, but I can help with weapons training if you don't have any. So, yeah. Just... hit me up or show up here, whatever works.

Apparently, everyone who was brought here, if they have a familiar - it's whatever creature came out of the water with you - was also given a type of magic. But you don't know what kind until you get it work somehow.

Oh! Well that makes more sense then. I definitely haven't been out trying to cast any spells~.

[There's a good deal of amusement to her tone. Not that she doesn't take this serious but the notion of just trying to cast a spell without knowing if anything is there... well.]

[ his tone is teasing, but he's not... entirely joking about it. when she asks about light magic, he looks a little chagrined. ]

So far, I've been able to go invisible. But it's supposed to allow me to use light to make shields or create illusions as well, though I haven't managed to do either of those yet.

Maybe that comes with more practice? It sounds like magic is like a lot of other things in life. It's all a matter of training and determination.

[Hmm, but that does bring up a point.]

I'm used to training when it comes to physical things. How do you train magic though? It's sounds awfully... insubstantial?

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to figure out. Like, my dad can use Elemental magic, so he just needs to practice summoning and controlling it. But I have no idea how to go about conjuring illusions, which probably means I'll need to read about it...

[ he hates studying. ]

Shields and invisibility seem pretty straightforward in comparison. Either they're working or they aren't.

[There's a lightly sheepish laugh there.]

[Considering how shockingly odd a lot of these "people" looked, no offense.]

Yeah, we do. Or I should say we did. Our magic is changed here, but we're both familiar with these types of magic in theory.

[ when she mentions worlds and people, he laughs softly. ]

I'm still getting used to it myself. I've met an adventurer from another world before, but even then I wasn't sure if she was telling the truth...

I don't think I've met an adventurer from anywhere before so you're already more experienced than me!

[After a small laugh she hums a little in thought.]

That must make it even more difficult then. There must be some books on magic around however, I know that would probably help me as much as trying to fumble around practicing. Or maybe they have something like Beasttube here?

[Ah but then -- she gives a beleaguered sigh.]

I don't mind studying but I was really looking forward to a break before college...

Sorry. I don't mind showing my face but it can make other animals nervous sometimes. Though most people here don't seem to mind.

[Her ears flick forward at that, brow furrowing just a bit as her hand stills in it's fluffing attempts. She wants to ask what a furry is and it's right there on her tongue before he calls her 'cool'.

Or that she looks cool. It's the same thing though, right? That makes her fluster, a dash of pink visible through the lighter colored fur on her cheeks.]

[That seems right to say, yeah? Now she scratches at her flushed cheek with a claw, looking askance.]

Herbivores certainly can be. It's a definite problem for larger carnivores like wolves. I don't exactly hide away at home or anything though - I really love posting selfies! I'm still learning about people though so...
