Good evening, everyone, my name is Aurora. [She's said it and introduced herself enough times that it comes much easier now. She forgoes her title, born a princess or not, it doesn't mean anything. Beside her is a giant eagle-owl, asleep on her bedpost at the inn.]

I will not waste much of your time.

I know there are fae here, and while I do not wish to presume with the fae and magical beings of this world, I do have some experience with them from mine and would just like to offer some swift advice that I feel would be helpful.

When dealing with fae, truly, any magical being, I must recommend using the utmost respect when speaking with them. Every magical being is as unique as a person, one may be as insulted as the next amused by something, but airing on the side of caution could not hurt.

Forgive me, I am sure this seems common sense to many. [And YET.] I hope you have a lovely evening.

I assure you, if they are anything like the fae of my home, then yes, they most certainly do. Hopefully, though, they are the amiable sort.

It depends on the fae, but some might be so inclined as to curse you to die.

Okay. Let's say you're right. Anything to know about respecting a fae, compared to anyone else?

Death tends to be, yes.

Well, if they are like the fae from my home, iron will hurt them, never take food they offer, or at least, let it pass hands before eating it. If a faerie claims to be able to do something, no matter how outrageous, believe them. They may be bluffing but you are going to be safer in believing them.

If they want to play a game, do not let them set the stakes because they will find some way to twist the words.

But say, if you don't mind me asking, how do you make friends of those folks? Being polite ain't the only trick to it, right?

No, being polite is not the only trick. But they are as varied as people.

Hmm, well, offering them food or doing them a favor and asking for nothing in return may curry favor.

They enjoy music, or... well, many of them do, but some cannot stand human instruments or voices.

Being open and honest about your intentions doesn't necessarily hurt.

I appreciate it... I don't know ...anything about it. It all seems mad to me. [he shakes his head] The most I know about faeries is something about milk. [and certain streets in SoHo but that's another story altogether]

Milk? Oh, you mean with the brownies? Really, many fairies like sweet things.

It was something about leaving milk out for them. My... [well it wasn't really his aunt was it] Someone... told me it was a good idea, a long time ago.


[he sighed a bit] Wish I'd listened more when I could.

Brownies, that is house fae folk who tend to the home, enjoy it as payment for their care. They are wonderful blessings to a home, though sometimes, they can be mischievous and leave rooms in disarray.

We did not have any brownies in my home in the woods. They may be here, certainly. I do not think they would tend to an inn, however.

Yes, I have quite a few fae back where I live. I was raised by three of them, in fact. [And cursed by another.] But every fae is as different as a person.

Hm.. so they're just like humans in that sense. That's cool that they raised you! They must have been super nice fairies.

Oh, they're very kind, but don't let that fool you, they are quite capable of sharp comments. Aunt Merryweather and Aunt Flora especially could wilt a flower with their words if they wished.

Just what sort of experience do you have with these fae creatures?
