[This face will look familiar to some people here, but the camera is very shaky, because he's excited for this new thingamajig that can apparently show his face and excitement to EVERYONE.]

Good evening!

My name is Ferdinand von Aegir, and I have just arrived in this place you call Camelot.

I was wondering, is there a place a man can get good tea around here?

I know of a few good places to get tea.

[When Flayn sees who it is sending a new message to the network, she pales, one hand covering her mouth. The battle in which they had faced - and killed - Ferdinand was one of the worst of the war for her. She hadn’t had the chance to speak with him directly that day; she only noticed he was there when the professor was about to engage him, and there was nothing she could do to stop that fight from happening.

But here on the screen he is just as she remembers him - bursting with enthusiasm and life. Truly, Avalon is a miracle of a place, to bring them all together again…

She clears her throat and takes a breath before pressing the button to respond, trying to smile. It would be hard to miss the differences in her appearance from when last he saw her - her hair is cut short, curls bouncing at chin level, with lavender and pink ombré color in it, and the style exposes her pointed ears.

Ferdinand…is it truly you?

Ferdie? Oh, look at you! Where are you now? I'll take you to tea--just sit tight and I'll come to you.

[Marianne would know that introduction anywhere. Unlike some of her fellow Deer who remember things differently, she seems happy--rather than spooked--to see him.]

Oh, Ferdinand. I didn't realize you were here, too.

There's a lovely café not far from the hotel that serves some very nice tea. I can take you, whenever you're free.

There are lot of coffee shops, they serve tea.

Why are you asking like this and not using the search function? Are you from one of those weird past places that didn't have internet or phone books?

There are several places around that sale tea. Just pick one that draws a crowd.

[Says the guy who can't taste anything.]

Well, then good sir, you should show me sometime!

Why, yes it is Flay.... [He trails off, seeing that familiar face. The last time he saw her... well, that was that battle at the Monastery. The professor had kept the Black Eagles from attacking Flayn and Seteth but... He didn't know what happened to them after that.

He takes a second to regain his composure.]

Flayn. It's good to see you again.

Ah, Dorthea! It is great to see another friendly face.

I am somewhere in the city. I apologize, I do not know my way around just yet.

Ah, Marianne!

How lovely to see you again, it has been a while... although strangely enough in such a strange world.

You are correct. I did not have anything like this back at home. It is amazing to me!

Ah, but how does one use this search function you mention?

That is a wonderful idea! I will see what I can find.

I'd love to. There's a lovely little tea shop out at the marketplace, and a cafe that's perfect for just spending a few hours at, getting some tea while reading a book and whatnot.

It is...it is good to see you as well. As you have only just arrived, I am uncertain whether you have yet learned that those of us who came here from Fodlan...have not all come from the same period of time or series of events. Tell me, Ferdinand, what is the last thing you recall before you came to be here? How fared your war?

No need to apologize, I'll find you. Turn the camera around so I can see where you're standing and I'll be over before you know it.

Ah, well, you see... [He pauses to think.]

The Adrestrian Empire completed their unification of Fodlan, and we were starting the post-war recovery period.

[He turns the camera to show the nearby buildings. Hopefully she knows where he can be found from that.]

[ Because the screen is turned away, Ferdinand won't see Dorothea's expression as she squints at his surroundings before nodding in recognition. ]

All right, Ferdie, I know just where you are. You just sit tight and I'll be there with you in a moment, all right?

[ Now, this is a welcome sight! Caspar greets Ferdinand with a wide, boisterous grin. ]

Hey, Ferdinand! About time you got here! You just arrived and you're already worrying about tea?

[ Not that he's surprised, really. ]

Oh, it is. My personal favorite tea house even sells these little peppermint and honey sticks for your tea.

The Empire...I see. You appear to be from the same Fodlan as the professor and Edelgard, then. I am afraid that I have come here from a different Fodlan entirely, in which the Leicester Alliance and the Church banded together to defeat the Empire. I...

[Her eyes fill with a remorse that seems too heavy for someone as young as she looks.]

Oh, Ferdinand, I am so very sorry.

[ she lets out a breath. she knows she ought to give ferdinand his space, until he's ready to talk, but... she shouldn't communicate with him through edelgard. that's ridiculous. ]

It's good to see you, Ferdinand. I know a few nice places, but... [ why the hell is this so hard? ] Perhaps that would best wait.

[His comment gives her a bit of pause. Back home, it hasn't been awhile. He was there with them in the aftermath of Fort Merceus.

Which means he's not from her Fódlan. Well, that's going to make things weird for him. She decides that it's better to bring it up to him in person rather than over the network like this, where they can really talk about it.]

It's very lovely to see you, too. This world is indeed strange, but there are a lot of nice things about it as well.

Are you staying in the hotel?

Someone showed you how to access this and didn't explain the rest of the phone to you?

When I'm settled in a bit more, I would love for you to take me there.

[He pauses to think as Flayn talks. What she's saying seems to coincide with what Lorenz was saying back when they first arrived. How many Fodlans were out there... it seemed quite a few.]

From how you are speaking, I am assuming something bad happened.

Of course. [He might as well, he doesn't have anywhere else to be for the moment.]

As of right now, yes I am. I figure it is better for me to find out more about this place before finding a more permanent place to live.

How about yourself? Where are you living?

They may have, but in the excitement of being in a new place, I may not remember everything they told me.

Plus, sometimes you want to hear about places from people who have been there, not just whatever this device is.

[He stops for just a moment.]

[ byleth nods once at that with a slight wince, trying not to take it too personally. she knows she kind of deserves it, given the issue at hand. ]

So which is it? You forgot how, or you decided to trust every stranger in Avalon?

I have yet to really try looking for another place, although I suppose I should. It's just so daunting, and the hotel is so convenient.

Yes...something quite horrific. You see, we...we faced you in battle. You commanded some of the troops who defended the Great Bridge of Myrddin, when we crossed into Adrestia, and...and you perished there.
