[ Inside her provided room, Eclair picked a nice solid background to stand in front of to look presentable. Still clad in her fitting, advanced-looking power armor from the neck down, with a sword's handle sticking out from over her right shoulder, Eclair starts the video and gives a small bow in greeting. She stood straight and with her hands gently clasped in front of her, emitting a well-trained grace in formalities. ]

Hello, people of this new world. My name is Eclair, artificial intelligence assistant and one of the new arrivals. I'm here to offer my services and get to know you all.

[ Straight to the point, she pauses to look into the camera. She emits a warm smile, knowing this might be a little too straightforward for human standards so she'll take a couple of seconds ]

Pardon me if this is too forward. But I will be happy to lend a helping hand to all of you, from everyday activities and errands, to combat or combat support and training roles. Both of which I'm programmed to perform. This world has given me healing magic, and I will appreciate any chances to improve on it and help you, should you require.

So please, if you'd be willing to collaborate and cooperate, let's discuss our futures here together.

I think there are plenty of people who do more combat related quests that would love someone with healing magic.

[ Elfnein's not that type of quester but there's not as many people with healing magic it seems. ]

Indeed, and I'm certain on it. I'm still fresh from the arrival point, and I have already seen a lot of reckless fighters. I can't sit idly by and let them get hurt.

Are you one of these people? You don't look like the type.

[alchemists]

I'm more of a support type! Alchemy isn't something for direct combat, or at least I view it as that.

So we are a lot alike in our preferred roles, then. But now you've gotten my curious about alchemy and how it works in this world. What exactly can you do with it?

[alchemists]

From what I've used it for so far, you can transmute materials without much worry about the formula part of it. One time I turned the solid ground a enemy was on into mud with the help of my familiar.

[ceraunos]

Interesting! I doubt it will be possible to learn that with how our familiars are limited to one type of magic. It's almost a shame! I think I will enjoy testing that magic out. Say, have you used it for cooking?

[alchemists]

I haven't tried to use it for cooking yet, I feel like if I used magic for that it would be sort of cheating in a way.

[ceraunos]

Hm, I guess I can see why you'd think that. Cooking is like art to me. It's like saying "I love you" without saying it.

[ She giggles. ]

[alchemists]

Saying "I love you" without saying it, that's an interesting thing to compare it to.

[ Love is the secret ingredient in most things. ]

Okay, I've got to ask. What's with people making their computers into women? You never see hot guys offering their robot services.

[ First Penny, now this. She's just saying, it's always women??? There's nothing wrong with women, and maybe she missed some male robots (she did) but she's confused. ]

[ceraunos]

Marketability. Statistically, most of our creators and customers are male who prefer women.

[ She's only met them briefly in the digital world, not enough to know them well. ]

There are male-programmed AIs to meet the demand of those who prefer one, though. But they were released some time after I debuted.

That's disturbing. Do you have a soul or is it just like, programming?

[ Hey, these are questions that have to be asked. And really are going to determine how Emerald treats her, because Emerald isn't good enough to be nice to something that doesn't have a soul. She's barely nice to people with them. ]

[ceraunos]

[ While she didn't pause, she nods for a moment. It's a slightly disarming question that brought back her curiosity about her own self. With a hum and a glance at her own hand, she replies: ]

Did you mean "sentience"? The criteria of what a soul is can differ from culture to culture, but since I was brought here and given magic, then I suppose I wield a soul. Wouldn't you agree?

[unhappy]

I don't know what makes them pick who to bring. My world has actual souls, it doesn't really different from culture to culture.

[ things with souls get auras and can be maidens and so on, but there are plenty of things without. ]

[ceraunos]

[ Eclair nods. She's lucky enough to be reactivated in time where androids are given rights. Discrimination still exists, but at least they're a given a "soul" so to speak ]

I see. The soul is an archaic concept in my world, but the agreed-upon trait of soul-wielders according to my world's definitions is sentience. To which I can confidently say, I do have, even if I started out with a programmed personhood. I'm able to live like a human; change, adapt, learn, just without the many limits of the human body.

Do you feel anything?

[ She notices that's the one thing she didn't really mention. It can act, change, learn, and adapt and it's not human. If it has emotions that's another matter, to her. ]

[ceraunos]

I do! Physically and emotionally. Ever since I've gotten an android body, I'm able to feel the former type of sensations like humans do. I can just ignore or enhance certain sensations at will unlike humans, like physical pain from injuries.

[ As for the latter though, Eclair needs a brief pause for that ]

But ever since I was created, I knew I felt for others. Empathy, compassion... I suppose it's part of my purpose as an AI assistant to be understanding. Some emotions are new to me. Such as anger, which is something I'm still learning to control. I've been told my ideas for retribution is a bit extreme.

Yeah, that's a soul then. Anything without a soul can't do that kind of stuff.

[ Emerald's decided, at least by her world's standards, she's worth not treating like a high-tech toaster. After what happened to Penny, that's probably the least she can do. ]

[ He's from ancient Egypt, this is so far beyond him. He hasn't even made a screenname yet, he just responds to everything with anonymous video... ]

[ceraunos]

In simpler terms, I'm a sentient machine created by humans. Our purpose is to serve and assist them in their many needs, making their lives easier.

[ Eclair just kindly responds back, expecting there would be people won't know what it artificial intelligence means. But it's a conversation starter, so that's why she felt the need to add it ]

So the humans made slaves for themselves? If they could've done that they should've just said so to start with.

[ The slaves made slaves... wild... ]

Pardon?

[ The word slave gave Eclair a slight pause - blinking and tilting her head slightly, but she remains cool and collected. But she remembers how humans did refer to them as slaves, but it was a small minority of people. Slaves at least implied being living creatures, AIs are simple tools. ]

"Slave" is a term that has been thrown around among human purists in my world. A vocal minority, but there have been instances that treatment of androids have fit the definition of slavery... It's mostly frowned upon. But out of fear.

Out of fear?

[ He asks, though out of curiosity himself. What even is the future at this point.. ]

[ceraunos]

Of an uprising. Perhaps it will be a story you're more familiar with: servants rebelling against their masters. Children usurping their parents.

[ Even in the future, much of human nature remains the same. That fear of losing their position as the top of the food chain, their dominance over the world. Androids have every advantage humans have and more. ]

[hor]

The last, yes. Our servants stand no chances against gods.

[ But it is his destiny to overthrow his uncle, who killed his father. So. You know. He gets the last part. ]

All beings have that in common.

[ceraunos]

So it seems. My human companion is knowledgeable of such tales of ancient gods and kings, and that feels like a cycle as old as time.

[ She wonders what eventually will take over androids, or are they the ones to break the cycle? Eclair can only guess. ]

If I may take a guess. You're a god, correct?

[hor]

Yes. Though I intend to be kinder to our subjects than past reigns.

[ Haha, not everyone is Set... or Geb or Ra or the list goes on, except for Osiris, but even then he only mildly scolded Set for killing servants so REALLY, Horus thinks he can count 'don't murder the servants for disobedience' as something he gets credit for. Or will, once he becomes king. ]
