[ Elfnein has a very panicked look on her face and an alien like familiar next to her. If you didn't know what it was you might just think it's a cute little monster.]

How do I get rid of a familiar? This one isn't safe to have around people.

[ Even though it's touching Elfnein's hand nothing is happening and it's just chilling. ]

It's a type of monster from my home that causes people to carbonize on contact. I can't let it hurt anyone here!

Not when that horse is a Pooka. All he wants to do it trick me into riding him again, then take off like mad through the countryside.

What... what sort of monster are you stuck with?

That's horrible, if they want to run around they can do it without taking you with!

Ah.. it's a creature called an Alca-noise, they're created from alchemy though there shouldn't be any of them here.

It's what they do apparently. I just never had the misfortune to run into one before.

And why can't there be Alca-wazzits? There is alchemy magic. Maybe some one created one.

Alchemy is a bit different from where I'm from, it's more of a memory based fuel system.

I'm going to regret asking this but... how do you get people carbonizing gremlin monsters from a memory based system? Isn't that like having your nightmares come to life and attack you?

[alchemists]

It's a little hard to explain, but Alca-Noise are based off Noise which do the same thing only they were summoned from a place that is now sealed off. So instead of just being summoned you have to create them now using alchemy.

You're right. It's difficult to explain.

Why don't you find a cage to toss the thing in? They must have one some where.

The cage might not hold if they do in fact have their carbonization abilities still, even if it's in a less powerful form.

Has it tried to carbonize anything? It might be like us with it's magic taken away.

I don't think it has? I haven't noticed any piles of ash yet...

Then why worry? Until it's carbonized its first person assume it can't!

[ He mightn't have been entirely serious about that. ]

[ That is one way to put it... if it doesn't do harm now just take it as is until the worst happens. ]

The logic on that seems a little off?

Does it? Makes sense to me... Besides that's meant to be your familiar isn't it? So it's not like it would do anything that is actually harmful to you.

I have to wonder what rules guide familiars and how they really work.

The only rule I've heard of is the one I just said, they have to work with you otherwise there is no magic... and if there is no magic this place stops existing... and if this place ends so do the rest of the universes, so it's in your familiar's own best interest not to turn you into charcoal. Just remind um of that if it starts causing too much trouble, it should keep it in line.

If that's the case I'll just keep telling them not to destroy things and hope for the best.
