[There's a tartan patterned tin box of cookies (or biscuits, depending on your culture of origin) placed open on the duvet of a hotel room. In the middle of all the shortbread, however, is a caramel colored hognose snake. The voice that speaks is male, and very British.]

Look at you. [The snake scents the air with its tongue.] Yes, I'm very glad to see you're here as well, but did you have to hitch your ride in my tin? I'm sure they have accommodations for that sort of thing, something to keep you from freezing in the bay. You needn't ruin perfectly good biscuits. I'm not sure we can find more here. Those were from home--MY home, before all this nonsense. We'll find you an enclosure and proper food in a bit; in the meantime you have a lamp, why don't you take a nap. You snakes enjoy your naps, keeps you out of trouble.

[Aziraphale's face comes into view. He appears to be a 50ish year old white male, with a cherubic face and upturned nose, and a head of pale blond curls. He looks like an angel. He's also tired; this has been a day and he has just recently arrived.]

Up to his old tricks, I see. Terribly sorry about him--somehow he always manages to hit just enough buttons to do something awful to these devices. Surprised it works at all since he seems to be powerless now. But since I have you all here:

I'm looking for someone. A, um. A friend of mine: [A smile that cannot be contained] tall, roguishly handsome and whip-thin, with red hair. Probably wearing sunglasses. He goes by the name Anthony Crowley.

If anyone should see him, would you be so kind as to let him know-- [Someone has to decide what name to use now. Mr. Fell is the default when talking to humans. Aziraphale is his name. So the choice he does make is telling, even if it's only telling to the person who it matters to.] --his Angel is looking for him. I would be ever so grateful.

[A deep breath] Right, so.

Camelot. It's changed a great deal since I last saw it.

Miss Redfield has already asked about good food, so I won't repeat her inquiries. But I would like to know if there are any good libraries or bookshops, and what if any additional resources one might provide about this world and its culture?

[Looks too pleasant to be a Hellhound. Aside from Dog, he was under the impression they were Big and Helly, which this dog isn't. There's a little nervousness and hesitation as he settles on what the dog may be.] ...Are you-- Are you a Grim?

[there is a small whine and the dog being lays down, long narrow snout between its paws. Its eyes give the suggestion of glancing up to a bed and back down at the camera.

After a moment, from the dark...a voice drifts down rough as the cough had been and obviously congested]

Alec! Is that you? Goodness, you sound ill. Should I go see the kitchen about some soup?

Training grounds provide libraries that contain some knowledge of the magics we have. I have been here for a month so I didn't have time to go through everything. [...yet.] I find that to be a good starting point, even if one looks only for leisure literature.

Unfortunately, I do not know. Without counting the denizens of this place, my group is the first to arrive after the anomaly happened. [Time-freezing anomaly.] Seeing that there are more people that arrived the same way we did, I can only guess there are more to come in the future.

I quite agree, about learning local history. What better way to understand a people than to understand where they came from, right?

I'd say you're right. Picking up the past to understand the present. Also, I guess talking to them and seeing what concerns them, but that means trying to get them to open up.

Any ideas on how they feel about outsiders so far?

Yes, always best to mingle with the locals. It will give us a good idea of the nature of the cultural mores here.

[ There was no word that quite pegged that heart twisting feeling of waking up alone, mid-air and plummeting down alone into a frozen world. It hadn't been his first swan dive but at least this time he wouldn't be alone for very long. Fell was here! Thank-- whoever.

He nearly spoke up to make some sort of snide comment about snakes dreaming up trouble while they were sleeping not staying out of it, but he was glad he waited. Those next few lines told him everything he needed to know about their new situation. If Fell still had all of his memories, if they were still... close. He felt like jumping up and giving this new world a war hoop, but managed only to avoid replying until his goofy love-struck smile was under control. There, deep breath, be cool, mysterious... got it. ]

Angel.

I'm here. Just outside of town actually. The carriage I was in tossed a wheel on the way in. It's fine... no one was hurt. Just delayed things while they had to swap tires.

[ Wheels. He ought to have said wheels, but his New York was showing. ]

Where are you? I'll come to you as soon as we get moving again.

[The relief--on seeing him, on hearing him, on just knowing he is here now, right away with him in this new world is so evident on Aziraphale's face. He had honestly thought asking after Crowley was a longshot, because it took time for him to arrive at the magic school, and to become one of the Different, but he's here, now...right away.]

There you are. Stirring up trouble already, I see. Traffic problems. You are an absolute terror. [He can't keep the fondness out of his voice.]

Well, I'm in a hotel. That's their lodging for us here, so they'll likely bring you here as well shortly.

I'll meet you in the lobby. We can decide where to go from there.

[ He hadn't actually had a thing to do with the wheel but... maybe the Pooka that had carried on following him had? The thing did seem keen on giving him another ride.

Still he accepted the praise because there was no reason not to! He liked being thought of as a terror especially in that very fond tone of voice. ]

[ He jostled to the right as the carriage he was sitting in was dropped back to the ground. A few seconds later they were on their way, trundling on down the road towards Camelot. ]

First of all, why is a petname embarrassing? It's not embarrassing for me and it's what he calls me.

But thank you. Being lonely is never good, no. Though we can always make more friends.

You needn't apologize for your newness. We are all new once, and it sounds to me like this is an awfully new situation as is. I'm terribly sorry they are showing up unexpectedly and unwantedly. Do you think signage might help deter them? I have a sign on my bookshop back home and for those who bother to read it, it's certainly worked as a good deterrent to unwanted business.

Well, I wouldn't say it was exactly like the stories... exactly. Geoffrey embellished a lot and Mallory did NOT listen to my suggestions. It was more, ah, historical. I was sent to foment peace and counteract the wiles of the evil Black Knight--very evil, him, always sowing seeds of discord and tempting the knights into battle and all that. Troublesome, really. And, uh I remember a lot of tourneys and uncomfortable suits of armor--wonderful feasts, though. Arthur hosted some absolutely glorious feasts with mutton and wild boar and all sorts of game birds. Oh and the mead. There was excellent mead (haven't had a good mead in a while).

Perhaps not this place precisely, not like this. This multi-world business is a bit confusing. I have been to A Camelot, maybe not THIS Camelot. The Camelot I visited was in what is now present-day England; still had an Arthur, a Merlin, the sword. A lot less comfortable. Lots of living in tents.
