Stoirm, her wolf companion, pops into frame briefly as well, nudging under her arm before she can even speak. She pants, clearly having enjoyed whatever workout she and Gareth did together, and eventually settles down after some coaxing. ]

ANYWAYS while I'm cooling down from training, I wanted to ask a less, well... pressuring? question? I guess. Since things feel pretty heavy lately, and I figure we could all use something nice to talk about.

[ A few more heavy breaths, another drink of her bottle, and... ]

Okay! So... what is your absolute favorite... baked good!

Cakes, pies, breads, deserts, biscuits, doesn't matter, tell me what it is, and why!

Because... they're a good size for a snack. And you can eat them with your hands.

Well...bread puddin' is always nice, especially with raisins in it. But sometimes just plain old bread can be good too. Bread always tastes best when it's just been baked.

[It's no wonder bread is the only thing her friend Mebh likes about anything to do with civilization.]

Breads are what gave rise [ ha! ] to my love of baking. I learned to make bread to give to my brothers after they were done training.

Eeh...well, it's not so much a baked good, really, but I really like mochi. [It's Ochako's absolutely favorite snack.] I can make it really, really well, too! And I prefer mine with red bean inside, but I'll eat it with most fillings, ehehe...

I guess for actual baked snack...I really like macarons! And I can make some ultra tasty soufflé pancakes! My mama taught me a recipe that will make your mouth water!! They're so light and fluffy - like biting into a cloud! I love when she makes them for me when I go home! Oooh, and of course shortcake and then there was this chiffon cake that Satou-kun made once that was soooo good...

[Someone stop her, Ochako can talk about food for hours.]

Ah, I'd love to try my hand at some of these recipes! And, well, to eat them too, of course!

[ More than that, she does notice something about Ochako's answer, and that really cut to the heart of her question more than the superficial idea of enjoying bakes. ]

Baked, huh... [ She'd never really been too picky, especially when it came to this. ] I'd say... cookies! I have a lot of good memories of homemade chocolate chips, you know?

That texture would be interesting... I almost wonder if it wouldn't be too heavy for a normal steaming... But if you baked it, it might just become crustless pie...

[ She was mostly speaking to herself, of course. ]

When they're in season again, I've got to try making this! It's too curious not to!

Aw, man, that's a hard question - they're all soooo good! Flour is like magic. It can make anything awesome.

Do brownies count? Man, I hope they count. Nothing beats an edge piece of brownie.

Ah, the classic tray bake! One you can do an incredible amount with, too! I once saw a recipe for a mint cocoa brownie that sounded delightful! Though it's a bit out of season for it, heh.

Does konpeito count? It's a candy, but it takes weeks to make. And there's a lot of baking involved. Or... cooking at least.

I've tried everything else I can so far. Cherry pie is really good, but nothing is quite like konpeito! It's colorful and shaped like little stars!

I still haven't tried mochi ice cream though, so that might take its place. I know someone whose familiar makes a lot of mochi, but ice cream is still new me to my allies.

Ah, candies are something I haven't quite dabbled in, myself. [ A small laugh, another pull from her bottle. ]

Never made mochi, either, though I get the principal. Not sure what makes mochi ice cream, though... Is it just ice cream frozen inside the dough?

I really loved sriracha chili chocolate cookies, especially when they were made into a white chocolate chili cheese cake. I would have said the cake, but it's not like it's baked.

Ah, you're one of those spice-and-sweet sorts, right? I've heard about that before, but haven't experimented much with it. It goes best with chocolate, usually, right?

Bread fresh from the oven is hard to beat.

[Mostly because it couldn't be poisoned, even if it burned the fingers. Also, it was tasty.]

Gallians would rather have their meat roasted, but pies are acceptable. [She supposes, in a way that definitely didn't imply Lethe shockingly enjoyed things.] One I had near the Crimean border had sour cherries under boar and pigeon.

Hm, donuts are usually fried, rather than baked, but even that process can be a tricky one. The oil has to be *just* the right temperature, and the texture of the batter matters a great deal, too! Ideally, you don't want any bubbles or pockets forming...
