Would it not ultimately matter less? Just because you are here temporarily, do you have a real stake in this world? People will likely choose what is easiest and most convenient for them in the short term, not what is best.

Well, maybe not "just" happens, but it's usually more like... Tensions happen, politicians ignore what the public wants because they don't care about the lives of the people who are actually doing the fighting, war happens and it sucks, and nothing much of anything gets achieved except getting way more ghosts that have nowhere to go with not enough mediums around to help them pass on.

Secondly, he definitely doesn't think all leaders don't care, but there are some who don't, and in that event, wouldn't the soldiers themselves be undermined? Maybe they're not as warmongery as we might end up being? I mean, I would think if we were weak they'd have already pressed an attack, because we'll probably just keep getting more people who are capable of fighting.

Yeah no one around here is. That's the problem, no one's willing to get their hands dirty because everyone's shoes are so clean you could eat off them. No one gets into the mud. Attacking first would be the smart idea before they're at our door.
