Why are there so many damn fires. [Granted, Shinji's only actually caught sight of one fire in progress.
But when you have fire-related trauma, one is 'so many.']
And how the fuck are any of them sticking when it just rained all fucking month, I guess. (Don't say 'magic.')

[He's FINALLY starting to get how he is freaked out by others touching him without warning, but it still seems appropriate, so he does it unapologetically!]
Grieve away then. We all fuck things up. It's impossible to escape this -- or any world without it. Being born, dying, all these things affect others, not always for the best. Don't try to avoid it. Just do things to make the world...s overall less fucked.
[More drinking!]

Believe it or not, this is the improved version.

If you could see my time, you wouldn't have to say that.
It's very obvious for one such as me to see how far humanity has come in the last five hundred years. Not just technologically, but socially. Culturally.
[He waves a hand. It's a weird example, but he really wants to give Shinji a chance to get it.] Take "Fuck."
It's not that rape or accosting women is acceptable or standard, but no longer is just the act taboo, the very word itself to symbolize it is as well! [Another laugh and headshake.]
A samurai could kill any peasant. [Snaps his fingers.] Just like that, and not even his Lord could do anything about it.
As much as you blamed yourself... Did others outwardly? Desperate fools with no control over nature, they sought superstitions as some means of comfort for lack of control over destiny. People in my time often lashed out at each other for the most absurd of things. Perhaps someone caused it by wearing red and offending some spirit. Or they might have said it was her own fault for having ancestors who were criminals.
Humanity has come far from such foolishness holding them back.

[This is Shinji coping with his grief after literally having to talk sense into himself. It only wasn't 'knock sense into himself' because he knew two years of running from the truth was plenty.]
Ken sure did, but he couldn't do any worse to me than I did to myself. And he had every right anyway.
no subject
Why's that?
no subject
It was an accident, and because of the circumstances nothin' legal can be done about it, but... it was still my fault. He was pretty pissed with me for a while. Think he's finally working through it some.
[But, you know, that was after nearly going through with a revenge murder. (Why did no one question Ken's initial Persona a little harder.)]

[Nobunaga squints at Shinji. So very Masamune.]
[He reaches into his pockets and pulls out konpeito. And noms one, but also offers one to Shinji as well.]
What'd you do?
Apparently that's how I fucked up in other timelines. Mitsuhide bargained his mother, Aunt, the woman who raised him, but I did something to disrespect the negotiations nevertheless, so they killed her.
[A headshake.] Mitsuhide is complicated. He's the hardest for me to deal with, but for him to betray me, I know I'd have to betray him first. Egregiously.
It's troublesome to think the fire at Honno-Ji was his doing in most other timelines. More than that I don't survive it.

Long story. But by the time I got shit under control, the front of their house was caved in. [If Ken's mom was properly awake at the time (which, Dark Hour, so the jury's out), she was probably protecting her son and wouldn't have had it any other way.
Shinji would just as soon have not made it necessary in the first place.]
Ken was ready to take it out of my hide, and I was ready to let him, if he thought he could live with himself after.
no subject
Would that have really helped anything?
no subject
No. But he was eleven. Anyway, we were interrupted before he could do anything other than yell at me.
no subject
Oh? Interrupted like other worlds, or interrupted like... I actually have no idea what would be normal for your time.

no subject
What happened then?
no subject
But then I did and I still have no idea what to do with myself now. [He knows exactly how lucky he is to have survived all that, to the point of being able to use it to clear up timeline bullshit problems. But still. When you don't expect to live to legal adulthood and here you are anyway...]

What the shit?
[Sengoku-era warlord just said that. The slang he is picking up here is terrible, and everyone should feel bad about teaching him bad words. At least he won't say them in front of Mitsunari, because Mitsunari is a baby (not literally).]
Guns seem a lot more dangerous when the gunpowder is inside the bullets. Not just for war. [Irritating. But seriously, he's trying to imagine someone charging in with even a bow and arrow and just...]
[Yeah, even Nobunaga's not that fucked up and impulsive! And yet ninja don't use guns in the future, or do they? Probably not since he was told only the army had them. Usually. Not to mention it seemed bullet wounds got a lot stronger too, not just that someone with less years of training could use them, but no training or discipline was required at all, just like Zuko said. Wouldn't that cause more damage to the user? Possibly, but maybe it was a lot more like giving a monkey a torch. Of course there would be wildfires and death and mayhem.]
Why did he want to kill Ken?
no subject
Because he could. Because his life sucks and so should everyone else's. Because he just wants to watch the world burn. Take your pick.
As for guns, yeah. Dunno how the fuckface got his hands on the damn thing in the first place, they barely let the police have handguns.
no subject
Some things never change I guess. Did someone else kill him, or the police?
no subject
[But at that point, he'd already tried to kill Shinji and very nearly killed Junpei, and dismissed Chidori sacrificing herself for Junpei as 'meaningless.' And Chidori was supposedly more Takaya's friend than any of theirs. Safe to say SEES didn't mourn Takaya.]

[Tell him about the death cult though, that he can relate to...]

In the end, he just gets himself some water. Gotta walk home after this and all.]
It was... the end result of people fucking around with shit better left alone, it wasn't even what they were trying to do and it was the better result than what they were trying to do. Dipshits added an extra hour to the day - that's where the monsters we were dealin' with came in. And why there was nothing legal to do about Ken's mom. Most people didn't even know it was happening.
no subject
Wait, were they trying to do?
[Don't let Mitsuhide around, he might stop Nobunaga from drinking too much, but he might also spike Shinji's drink in replacement for lack of Masamune!] Ahhhhh explain how Ken's Mom tied in for me?
Part of the sect? Organization? What do you call it?
