I've already spoken with a few people who refuse to join the knights for various reasons. Yet they still have valuable talent and a wish to help out. Some also hold objections to their lack of action in regards to the doppelgangers taking hostages and us being left to go solve the problem on our own. Nothing says that if we even form a group that we can't cooperate with the knights. My world has such an arrangement with the local garrison and the church's knights.
