It's a long story, but our world is split into pieces -- the main shard, the Source, and thirteen fragments. They're numbered as such, though most people don't even know the others exist.
Oddly, fae don't exist on the Source, but they exist on the First, and there are a small handful of different types. I'm kind of referring to the qualities they all share when I talk about my experiences, but things could be completely different here for all I know.
