Good afternoon, everyone.

My name is Ozpin. I was the headmaster to a school for talented individuals with something called a...semblance. Though one can make a claim that magic was also real back home as well.

I'm speaking with you all today in hopes of garnering some interest in doing much of the same here. I've seen various postings about learning how one could harness their newly acquired magic individually. But I come to you in the hopes that we might do so in a more... community-based setting. A school, if you will, those who have been here longer and have a better grasp of their magic may apply for mentorship if they like. Since teachers will be needed of course. Many of us here aren't exactly familiar with the powers now bestowed upon us, having a place to learn in a controlled and more proper setting for such things might be a bit more useful. It would be easier to find and form teams for these quests as well.

Teamwork was something I highly valued back home, as huntsmen and huntresses had to build such skills to ensure survival. Though not as dire here I think it might be a suitable venture to look into. [ He might lean back again with a soft sigh as he takes another sip from his mug. ]

Though do correct me if I'm wrong and this has already been discussed within the community. I've only since arrived so I do have some catching up to do.

Getting plucked out of my home and dropped in a lake only to find out the best way to learn how to use magic is a school sucks.

[ Ozpin chuckles on his end, at the typed reply. ]

Fear not. It wouldn't be mandatory in the slightest, I believe that people choosing to come on their own accord would be far more beneficial than forcing people to take classes on such things.

It isn't that I don't want to learn, as I really want to know how to use my magic on purpose and not just accidentally while I do other things.

I just think schools suck.

What a splendid idea! A proper institute of learning is something this realm desperately needs!

I'm glad you think so. I believe it would lead to less confusion and possibly less injury for those who have more damaging magic such as elemental.

Exactly! Why, I could use such lessons myself! I use healing magic back home, but the healing magic here is wildly different!

Honestly, some formal education would certainly be helpful with learning how magic works.

[ Most likely it's one of his former students. But Ozpin will nod and give a soft smile. ]

For those of us unaccustomed to magic in general, learning as a collective whole may be for the best in some regards. Those as someone pointed out, finding teachers might be a bit difficult.

That's a good point too. I wonder if we can ask some of those native to this world and see if they would mind teaching? Since there are some who already help us out with learning magic.

[ If a post like this tells Blake anything, it's that Ozpin was sincere about giving the citizens of Remnant a real education, entirely aside from the Huntsman Academies' function as the Relics'* hiding places. She's sure Oz knows Team RWBY's all here; best to let the ol' immortal just do his thing for now. ]

( note: * for those of you who don't rwby, the relics are powerful magical objects that the big bads in the show want for themselves )

[ Oh. Well. This was not exactly the meeting he was hoping to have. The expression on his face is one of surprise but it reverts quickly back to his otherwise calm and stoic expression. Especially with Yang of all people given that their last encounter was less than welcoming?! Still, her concern and question are something he can't exactly ignore. ]

Miss Xiao Long? It has...certainly been some time. But the last thing I remember? Ah, well...something with Salem's arrival to Atlas. [ He doesn't know what she does, or what point in time she heralds from because it seems like that is something that differs from person to person. But mentioning that both he and Oscar got shot off a cliff and fell from the base of Atlas isn't something he wants to delve into right now. ]

Salem arriving in Atlas... then you're more or less from the same point I am.

But that... how are you you you again?! What about Oscar?!

A school would be so helpful for everyone. It's kind of reassuring seeing someone experienced stepping up like this.

Well, I don't want to step on any toes, but I haven't been able to find any kind mentioning of the fact that one exists. I do believe that schooling with powers like these is rather important, however. It's a good sign that people are open to the idea.

If there is anything like that, I haven't found it yet. Some structure would definitely be a good thing.

Magic worked so differently back home. It's a lot to get used to.

I agree with my friend Maribelle, I think it's a splendid idea! I'd like to sign up as a student if you do get this ball rolling!

If we've never attended a school before, but we want to improve, do you think it would help?

That's not a bad idea. ( he can get behind the logic, but also... ) But I wonder if anyone has enough experience with the magic here to function as an instructor.
