[ The video clicks on to what was probably by then a familiar face to some, a bright smile and warm expression on her face as always. She was out of her armor, but her lance was propped up against the wall just behind her. ]

Hey everyone! Some of you know me, but for anyone who doesn't...

I'm Sir Gareth of Orkney, Knight of the Round Table in Service of His Majesty Arthur, King of Britain!

[ Yeah she just... outright gave her whole-ass True Name because she's never had to keep it hidden before. That, and given she was still very certain this wasn't a Grail War of any sort, well, she had no obligation to follow those rules. So she wouldn't. It was easier for her to make friends with her actual name, after all. ]

Um, but not THAt Arthur. The one that rules here, I mean. And I'm not the same Gareth that was mentioned in the Archivist's books, either. It's complicated, ugh, so I'll just get right to the point...

[ She reaches behind her, pulling out one of the crystal-like shells that were loaded into her lance. At the moment, it was completely dark... ]

These are Mana Charges, uh, Merlin designed them to hold a charge of magic that I could activate with my lance back there, but when fighting off the raiders at the Silent Shore, I wound up burning them all out.

[ She tossed the shell back and forth in her hands, and tried to give it a little jolt of her own power, lighting flashing from her hands and into the shell. But the crystal only glowed briefly before burning out, like a dead lightbulb... ]

And, as you can see, my magic here isn't near strong enough yet to power them up myself.

So... anyone want to help me out here? I'll pay you in chocolate cupcakes!

I am Agrias Oaks, knight in service of the kingdom of Ivalice, and personal guard to Princess Ovelia Atkascha.

[She notices that change in posture, and offers a brief smile in return.]

[ Gareth shook her head immediately, waving her hands before her. ]

There's no way I could ask something like this of you, your highness.

Nonsense, Gareth. I have no issues with aiding you here.

[ Her hands, however, are now on her hips. ]

However, I will still be expecting those cupcakes.

Maybe... It's not an issue with you not being able to power up your crystals but maybe you need smaller or more basic crystals to work with before you work up to your normal-sized ones?

Huh... I hadn't really thought of it that way. [ She keeps tossing it between her hands. The smack it made in her palms definitely conveyed how dense it was... ]

That being said, I have no clue what these are actually made of, so I'm not even sure we could find smaller ones for me to practice on.

I see... I wonder if there are any crystals that could work with your magic in this world. In one like this... There's bound to be. I think?

[You know, like in most fantasy worlds.]

It could just take some testing.

[Kadoc doesn't love video, but since this is someone he's met in person previously, it's easier to just default to that so that he's recognized on sight. It's not a big deal . . . though he does wonder a little what she texts like.]

The idea of having enough magical output to offer to a Lancer is totally alien to me. . . . So, sure. I'll get a kick out of the novelty.

[The cupcakes are not super enticing, but hey, he won't turn them down either.]

But I doubt mine is any better than yours. If you're looking for a cumulative effect, that's one thing. But if you need someone with more output than you, it's not gonna be me.

Yeah, despite you being a magus, you and I are in kind of the same boat, there, huh?

[ No judgement in her tone. In fact, there was that familiar empathy, understanding it was probably frustrating not being able to practice magecraft on the level he was used to. ]

Oh, by the way! How have you been settling in, Kadoc?

[Stupidly, he doesn't expect the topic shift to just friendly checking in with him; for a beat there he's clearly not sure how to react, blinking at the camera.]

Sorry. But I'm still not sure what to make of it all just yet. It's not like there's anything to do but just go with it for now, though. Maybe it's just that I don't consider that "settling in." . . . It's probably a pretty different experience for a Servant.

[Being a Servant is kind of all about getting summoned to worlds you don't really live in for some greater purpose, huh. The perspective there must be very, very different.]

Just get these mana charges restored and ready to go! As far as I can tell, all you have to do is just pour some magic into it and it should charge them back up nice and sound!

[ She has... no idea how it actually works. Please don't ask. ]

I've never done anything like that before, but I can try.

Although... I'm not sure how to "pour" magic into something, especially when my magic makes things move or stop moving. [ A beat, and she places a hand on her chin in thought. ] Am I supposed to make it move around, then?

They said something about that with my bow, too... that the arrows are made of my magic. Is that how those work?

[ He just sort of intuitively makes them appear, but to charge something... does he just hold them? how does one do this? ]

These shells are physical things, made from a crystal material- don't ask me to identify it.

[ She honestly didn't know. She was pretty sure if Merlin had ever explained it, it all went over her head, anyways. ]

But they're designed to hold and release stored magical energy.

[ The look on Minato's face suggests he doesn't get it. It suggests that just trying to conceptualize this is physically painful, and he eventually gives up with a shrug. In the end, it doesn't really matter, as long as it works. ]

Like batteries. In that case, I think my familiar would be a better energy source than me. But we can test it out. Where do I meet you?
