[ For the first time, Emet-Selch is trying out a video post instead of his usual text. The feed shows a man in his mid- or late-30s with long, dark brown hair that has been tied into a loose braid. His streak of white hair hangs free and frames the right side of his face.

He clears his throat and sits straight, looking at his device's screen (and therefore not into the camera, as the more tech-savvy would). ]

Greetings. I am-- My name is Hades. I am an alchemist...and a goldsmith. I manage a business known as Polydegmon's Lapidary and Brew within Camelot City. In light of the sudden surfeit of mushrooms this season, I would be willing to purchase any unusual or magical fungi you may happen across as you forage. I will also accept the more common varieties used in potion-making.

[ He pauses, glancing slightly off to the side as though reading something. In the background, something that appears to be a flying betta fish with iridescent scales glides past serenely. ]

Ah, I do take custom commissions on potions and jewellery, provided they are not used for nefarious purposes. And I have a grimoire that new alchemists may peruse should they visit. I do believe it is 'that time of the month' again.

[ With that, the video cuts off. ]

I'll be keeping that in mind, then. I'd been hunting for all the rare ones, but haven't used them for more than healing spells. Though I'll be glad if someone could use them for more. [Which is to say, he won't sell them; but,] You can have them, if you want.

Ah, I um- [Killing the protest.] Something like that...? My healing's my secondary magic. It's just that fungus boosts the spells a bit, so I'd been eating them lately.

Were you planning on making them medicines? You really don't have to pay me, you know, if it's for that sort of thing...

I do plan to make some medicinal potions, particularly antidotes to whatever lethal varities one may find. However... You say you eat some to improve your healing? I'm sure I could create something a great deal more potent using those fungi.

[ That would be adequate payment, surely. ]

[Choosing video to reply to video, Walter's feed displays with the boy sitting on the sill of an open window. The corner of the tall wardrobe behind him gives the room away as a bedroom, but the way he's sitting, there isn't any bed in frame.]

Are there any particular mushrooms you are looking for?

[He spends a lot of time in dangerous places when he can help it. The Forest of the Fisher King has plenty of unusual life, fungi included.

Not that Shoto doesn't already have that potential covered, since they'd both traversed the forest together before. But it doesn't hurt to ask. It would give him something to do. He's not ready to settle down and set up shop somewhere.]

Anything that has either magical potential or is known to have certain properties. I will take both medicinal fungi and the poisonous kind.

[That tiny smile. Walter notices it, but does not comment. They have a task to address.]

In that case, the Forest of the Fisher King will be teeming with the sorts you are looking for.

[Everything in that forest has unusual properties. And there is one mushroom in particular that can help counteract the effects of the spores released by the carnivorous plant-life, if administered correctly.

He pauses, considering the measures he will need to take. Full-fingered gloves, for one. Since he's going to be handling them directly, he wants to avoid any surprises getting onto his skin.]

[Although... Floyd wonders if he can just steal whatever Jade brings back for himself to keep and sell them off to this guy before Jade realizes. It was better than their shared room being full of them.

Also,] Hey, you got places for people to do alchemy there, or it all your own stuff? [Floyd's not overly interested right now, but it's good to know if he needs it.]

Eeehh~? We've never met before! [Though it doesn't take long for Floyd to put all the pieces into place, he's well used to it. He had just needed a moment to squint at the video to confirm he doesn't remember this guy.] Oh, you must mean Jade, he's my twin. [As for fickle, yes, that's still absolutely true for Floyd, his emotions can flip at any moment without warning. And everyone else around him just has to deal with them.]

I'm not surprised, he's obsessed with all sorts of plants, but especially mushrooms. He better keep them out of our room!

Okay~! I had to do it back in school, but I haven't done any here, but it good to know just in case, right? Though I bet there a whole bunch of new ingredients that I donno what they even do here.

[ --and of course, Hythlodaeus chooses that moment to walk by in the background. He's saying something but the words aren't picked up by Emet-Selch's device. It does, however, immediately expose THIS man as being the one Venat is all too familiar with.

He presses his lips together and stares off to the side in tense silence, this time to avoid making comment. ]

[Venat presses her fingers to her lips, then curls them up to hide her smile. Which both fails to hide it, and doesn't stop it coming through in her tone anyway.]

Small wonder at your irritation over my technique with the greatsword. And small wonder your advice proved so informative, when I was learning technique from he whose skill spurred me to adopt it.

[She knows, well does she know, that her utter lack of acrimony must cut far deeper than if she and he had been at each other's throats at the very moment of revelation. He must surely prefer to hate her without compunction or complication...
But how can she be angry? I agree, it's not very thorough. [She's been making notes of her own as she goes because of this, but there are some that still have her stumped.]

I have some records of fungi that I don't have samples of anymore, too, if you want to look at them. Do you want to come by the Alchemy Guild building, or shall I come to your shop?

There seem to be many varieties growing madly everywhere this season. If you do not know how to tell the benign from the dangerous, I recommend handling all with gloves and a mask.

I'm glad to hear that- business is much the same in my shop, as well.

I've been experimenting with a few different potions, mostly for my own private use though. Nothing of the new batch is refined enough to sell, but I've been taking my time with it.
