Heyyy all, Junko here!

Just a quick one, but like, this whole weird-ass calamity night thing is a total pain. If anyone has any advice on how to stop my houseplants dying on me until the sun comes back, that'd be grand. [And then a mutter: ] Pretty sure I just stink worse since then and this won't actually screw me over too?

...Uh. Or how to stop Freya and Frigg from freaking out, I guess.

[There may or may not be sounds of somewhat distressed guinea pig squeaking in the background.]

Mean I guess most normal people- guinea pigs, whatever- would get freaked out just staring at the apocalypse, huh? Still kinda weird just having that constantly hovering over our heads.

I have green magic, I may be able to help you with your plants while things are strange.

[She pauses for a moment after that.]

And I think freaking out is a normal reaction to the apocalypse.

[Part of her thinks she's the one who's being unusually calm about this.]

Do.. you think light magic might help?

[ If Minako sounds a little unsure as she asks that - it's because she is! After all, light magic mostly has to do with illusions, so Minako is never really sure whether or not the light cast by that magic sounds as 'real' light or not.

Or real enough that it might actually do something for plants, anyway. ]

I've never tried to use it that way. I mean, usually the sun is always just there to take care of the plants.. [ Sometimes you don't even think about these things until something that's usually always there is suddenly gone, huh. ]

Huh, that's a good point...I mean, I think they just need light so dunno what the difference would be between like, sunlight and magic light.

[She wasn't good at book-learning in school either, so she couldn't be sure exactly what the plants needed from light.]

...It's worth a try though, right?

[ It is at least worth a try, sure. Minako agrees on that much, even though she's not completely convinced yet whether natural light and magical light would truly have the same effect.

But at least it can't make things worse, so. ]

Do you have light magic? If not, I could come over and try it out.

I do, yeah, but I've not really used it for precision targeting- I mean, like, I can do flashy stuff with it but not, like, small things, you know?

[Hopefully she covered her slip up there.]

...Mean it'd be cool to see you if you wanted to come by anyway.

[ Apparently the other did cover up that pretty well.. Or maybe Minako didn't think much of it in the first place. It's hard to be startled by other people pulling out combat-adjacent language when you're so used to fighting as well, after all. It doesn't immediately click together in your head that it ought to be strange for other people to say that.

I mean, it feels pretty important to make sure no one feels lonely right now. I imagine people are a little bit more on edge with the entire sky situation.. [ Like Minako. Who is definitely much more on guard than usually.

But there's no way she's just going to say that when she can shove it under the rug and pretend she's a-okay. ]

I see you have a few magical solutions, but that aside would suggest using a lamp. There are lights made just for houseplants, so that might be helpful.

[He's speaking from some experience of course.]

It is a little bothersome, isn't it? I'm used to not having much light in my hometown, but it's still a bit threatening.

Wait seriously, there's lamps that are made to take care of plants?? That'd be totally perfect.

And yeah... 'bothersome' is one word for it.

Yes. They are not as good as sunlight of course, but there are many options available. It all depends on how much light they normally need.

Yes, it was novel at first but now I'd like it to be over.

Usually they just kinda...chill on the windowsill, so there's that. Gonna have to see if I can find a light.

I know right? Like, it's giving me practice with my light magic but it's like, seriously getting on my nerves.

...You said your hometown was kinda dark right? What was it like?

I would highly recommend it then, yes.

Hmmm, it's fairly cold all year round and there are ice flows in the winter. But the coral reefs are always beautiful. Sometimes there isn't a lot of food, so you have to fight to take what is yours. And because of all the shipwrecks, a lot of ghosts come out at certain times of year, like Halloween, so children are not allowed to venture far on those days.

Woah...that sounds interesting. Are there any tactics that work to combat the ghosts, or do you just have to avoid them/

Avoid them usually. You can't permanently kill a ghost with magic. You have to make them pass on or exorcise them using special tools. It's not something I'm an expert in though.

Not to be a downer, but... as the Ambassador to the End of the World, if you think what's going on in the sky above us is unsettling... Well, if you saw what the End of the World proper looks like, right now, you'd understand just how bad this mess is.

...yeah, I'm not gonna be taking the guinea pigs out to the End of The World. Seriously, poor things are already having a rough time of it.

[It almost sounded like her pets were more concerned than she was.]

Y'know, I'm gonna go ahead and agree that's a good idea. What about covering their cage? Just something on the top.

That's a good shout- building a little shelter over their pen might help. Least they don't have that looming over them.

Pretty sure tarp or something'll be easy to get hold of.

[She'll just carefully wander over and sit near them, watching the two black and orange guinea pigs run around.]

...Uhhh...what's an Ambassador to the End of the World supposed to do, anyway? There aren't actually people living out there are there?

There's a tourist trap out there, which I always found a bit iffy, but beyond that -- there's no easy way to get there at all except by teleporting, and it's the only place you can see just how close the apocalypse is.

The one with the orange on her back's Frigg- and Freya's got the orange patch nearer her nose.

...Honestly I can believe someone'd turn it into a tourist trap. Some people just like watching the world burn.

To be fair, it is literally impossible to get back from there without magic. So there's something of a captive market as well as a real good reason for it.

Wait so it's totally possible to get stranded there?? That's creepy.

I mean, I'd never leave someone there, but I guess if someone got you there like by riding animal or something, and then took off without it...

...yeah I'd probably snipe someone if they did that to me.

[Up to debate if she actually would, or if she'd just broadcast a 'hey please help' message and sit there thinking about how hopelessly disappointing she was to deserve being abandoned there.]

Does it bug you, seeing all that? The end of the world I mean.

Not many people are anywhere near as scared of it as they should be. I think it's because it's too abstract, too distant. It looks like a picture or a painting, you can't connect it to the reality of the situation.

I mean, I guess? When I saw my world end it was a lot...closer, bloodier. This doesn't really feel the same, you know?

Yeah. We're not living it, just seeing it. We're safe here in Avalon, or at least it feels that way.
