Hm... stories of the beginning?
[He leaned back on his log, he was out camping alongside his familiar, the sun was setting and they currently had a fire blazing bright.]
That was a question posed earlier this month, stories about creation... [He thought for a moment longer.]
Would anyone like to hear it? The truth of how everything came to be? Or perhaps, the story of Ragnarok, the end of the world?
[An even wider grin formed on his face.]
Then there's also the story of how the mighty god Thor had to dress as a woman. Of course, I also have a few stories attached to my own name if any care to hear those.
[Someone is in a sharing mood.]

[He'll shoot her a smile in return.]
Ah- stories never told before... hm, I might have one or two. Such as the race with Breca, or a few things I did after Grendel. There's also a few I've learned in the past that I'm not certain are all that popular or well known now.

[ Was she supposed to make a choice here? No way! ]
I want to hear them all.

Now, Ægir didn't really have much of a choice in this. But he was able to set conditions for the gods to meet before he agreed.

[ Some things never chance even across era, huh. ]
What were his conditions?

For mine everything first begins with three realms, one of ice and frost, one of fire and embers, and one that consisted of the void.
The Land of Ice was known as "Niflheim", the one of Fire known as "Muspelheim". The third, the great void where everything would form was known as "Ginnungagap". Now, within Niflheim there is a spring known as Hvergelmir. Its water is what would feed and grow the great tree that forms the world known as Yggradsil, as well as creates and grows the ice that makes up the lands of Niflheim. While the intense heat from Muspelheim would grow ever hotter and reach the borders of Niflheim, thawing some of the ice and causing drops of water to fall towards Muspelheim. Sending sparks and mist into the void of Ginnungagap.
It is from those sparks and mist that the first of all life will begin.

[He's keeping up, so far!]
But please-- by all means, continue.

First came the frost giant known as Ymir then the cow Auðumla from the melting ice and mist. Eventually Ymir would fall asleep, and during his slumber he began to sweat, while his legs would mate with one another. From his sweat and legs more giants would emerge. These creatures were cruel and violent of temperament and would feast and be nourished by Auðumla's milk.
Yet it wouldn't be long before more life would join them. The cow, Auðumla, would begin to find her own nourishment in the salt of the icy rocks. Where she would feed on the frost in her pride and grace. Until at last, it formed into the first of the gods known as Buri, a man of great beauty and strength. Who would be awoken by the cow's tongue.
