Hello, everyone! Hypnos, local god of all things sleep here. I've officially been here just over a year -- yeah.

[ Amused smirk as he lifts one hand to count on his fingers -- to a whole one. ]

Over. It's almost unbelievable for me! A year's not really all that long, when you get down to it. Twelve simple months and 365 days. Something like that.

[ Lets out an easy - Hah. ]

So, I know we've had a lot of excitement going on, but this is for a bit of introspection. Since I'm such a thoughtful guy, you know? I was curious, what sort of things would you have hoped to learn in a year. Or if you've been here awhile - what have you learned since you arrived?

I learned about human food... especially sweets. I also learned about magic and dating. And that sleeping outside is probably not the like -- most ideal thing. I know for some people that doesn't sound exciting, but for a guy my age - that's really neat.

On another note... what's your favorite hangout spots around town? Even the people newer here probably have an answer.

Is it cheating to say my own favorite place is my own karaoke bar? [Probably.] Outside though, I really enjoy my new rose garden.

I don't think it's cheating. I think you should love something you've built yourself. Ah - rose garden. I'll have to visit.

That's a worthwhile thing to learn. Some people don't learn that in their lifetimes.

Of course, you're welcome to. I have purposedly made it open for public. There are some very good spots to just relax.

Indeed. It's definitely a skill that should be taught in schools, even if the true meaning of the lessons would only be learned later in life.

I'll definitely stop by, then. I am a fan of flowers.

In schools? It seems like it might be a hard lesson to teach.

I can't be certain personally, I've never taught or been to a school.

Well, if you go deep enough into the topic, it might be... but if you cover the basics and give people a "starter kit", so to speak, it could work. Some schools teach psychology, so it wouldn't be that different.

Never? Ah... right. I suppose gods wouldn't need schools.

I've learned so many things! There are so many varieties of vegetables now, and even fruits that taste like other fruits. Also, that despite inventing emojis, most people cannot comprehend them when used together despite that pictographs are an ancient form of written language!

There's a lot of variety. I can't say I've been tricked by fruit yet.

I can't say I've used emojis much before. But...they're just pictures, right? Maybe like most things they mean multiple things so it can get confusing.

[ No prank, just fun hybrids and magic. ]

Have you seen the cookie trees yet? This is a strange world.

[ He nods firmly. ] Yes! Though even used literally many seem to struggle.

I have learned... that my little brother is perhaps not so irritating as I thought.

[There's a bit of softness around Thanatos' features, perhaps only enough for Hypnos to be able to see, but it's there. The two of them have been on a little journey while they have been here and Hypnos has certainly come out of it well when it comes to his relationship with his twin.]

But I am relieved to hear you have changed your thoughts about sleeping outdoors.

I've gotten in the way a couple times and it's getting hot.

[ Not probably the reasons Than wants him to have figured it out, but...here we are. ]

Only a couple of times? [Look, Thanatos will go to bat for his brother any time he needs to but if he's choosing to put himself in places where people are walking then he really has no way to defend him...

And he won't, to be honest. It's a lesson that needed to be learned.]

I wasn't sleeping in the path exactly, just next to it. Apparently that's a reason for concern for some humans.

Which, I mean, fair - it's kind of them to be worried. It was very comfortable and I was sleeping very soundly.

If you'll recall, it was a concern for me as well.

[Honestly, Hypnos. You don't just go falling asleep in the middle of paths and expect no one to take any notice. Even in the House he wouldn't have got away with that.]

You have a place to sleep at your home, why are you dozing off outside all the time?

Why not sleep outside? I like the sun - it's nice and warm. It's not like going outside is a common thing at home, you know.

Look, he can't actually be that annoyed. At least, not annoyed as he could be or would have been were they having this conversation a year ago. Despite their long lives it is astonishing how quickly someone so set in their ways can change when the situation around them takes an abrupt shift.]

Fine. If you want to take a nap outdoors again, I'll come with you. Or ask that human girl you've been seeing. She doesn't seem to mind your sleeping habits.

[And she would probably enjoy sitting in the sun more than Thanatos would.]

[ Of course he specifically calls out Thanatos because he's right there. ]

You know, big brother, I am glad you're here.

Mmfh.

[Excuse him while he looks momentarily embarrassed by the affection. Even now it's still strange and he doesn't always know what to do when Hypnos is so direct.]

Yes, I'll come with you, but don't expect me to stay out there all day. I'll carry you back home if I have to.

It's easy to miss out on how fast time goes by, isn't it? As far as favored places are concerned it's difficult to pick only one.

It's really easy to not even really notice. Things here are pretty exciting, too.

There's bound to be a place - it's that one that comes to mind first, I think.
