Hoy there. Name's Megumi, Matriarch of the Utakata family! Not that it matters here...

A lot happening in here, but everyone's getting by- proud of you lot. As someone who's been tossed between worlds for a while... Not that I can remember much of them anymore...

So, indulge me! What are some things from your own homes you wish you could see here? We all know we miss friends, family, our favourite pets and so on, but other little delights.

I miss my children, of course, but I also miss a good miq'abob! A meaty skewer of goodness- or a mostly vegetarian skewer of goodness. Been trying to make them the way I remember, but 'tis just missing a little.


And chocobo. The best bird mounts in the world. Though the music here is somewhat fun, I miss the music from home, too.

I've seen a "car" before! There were some in the world I was taken to before this. They're so fast! What kinds did you have?

We have e-cars, um, that's electric cars. And h-cars. Those are hover cars. And then, like, commercial vehicles but that's a whoooole other story.

( Even Rosa thinks that might be a bit too much talking in one go. There's a reason the garage spent several days going over each, and they don't even work with them! )

You can call me Megumi, lad! Not that I mind ma'am myself! And that sounds rather relaxing! Can't say I've seen many "bikes" back home as well, we've mostly carts and carriages there too! Are they easy to use?

Uhhh, they're not difficult but not exactly easy, either. It takes some tutelage, practice, and a small touch of moxy to really get around on one. Especially the one I own. She's a beast that needs a gentle hand to last.

I kind of miss airplanes. I had a friend back home who's an awesome pilot, and flying places was pretty fun.

[ Mostly, though, she missed airplanes because they reminded her of her friend. ]

Ah, are airplanes like airships? I've seen airships, more, and they're such fun to ride on! Do your airplanes go very fast?

Um...yeah, sort of, I guess. Though airplanes are a lot smaller than airships. There isn't really any room to walk around, but since they are smaller they can fly pretty fast.

I can imagine it. 'tis all very exciting... tell me about these races, then! Did you have them for fun, or was there some incentive for flying planes in races?

"Megumi" and "Utakata" are Doman names, though more common around Hingashi.

Well, fair enough, but I have heard somewhat similar Eorzean names I think.

[Admittedly, he wasn’t the best at placing names. Aside from other conscripts his exposure to other cultures was limited. He could have heard an Eorzean name with M and a G and some vowels, and got the names mixed up.

All the same he switched to speaking Hingan, it’s accented and he’s clearly unpracticed in it given the slow pace with which he speaks, but he seems enthusiastic to speak it all the same.]

Doman! I thought so, my parents- birth parents- came from Doma. Though they came from a small village by the Ruby Sea. They moved before I was born, but they carried much of the home they left behind with them to Terncliff.

I miss our friends and families. I'm lucky to be here with Usako and Minako, but there are a lot of people back home that I would like to see. I also definitely miss some of the food we only have in Japan and that's hard to replicate here.

Well, it's not exactly a food dish... but Japanese cotton chocolate sponge cake is something very hard to replicate. I have a slight sweet tooth for chocolates.

I also miss the music from my home; it's very different from what I'm used to. And the mountains... Where I live, there are places where the air is clear and crisp and the only sound is the trickle of water or the wind through the leaves. There's so many people and sounds here from morning until evening... I never thought much about it before, but I didn't think that I would miss the quiet so much.

It was built on a mountain outside the city of Gusu, so it's name comes from the mists that surround the mountain, making it seem like the buildings float among the clouds. [He hopes that paints a good picture... There's so much more that he could say, but as much as he loves his home, it would be rude to gush too much about it to a stranger.]
