It's not much, but I made a weighted blanket.

[ The 15th is also his dirty thirty birthday, but this accomplishment completely overshadows those thoughts as he had been struggling with his magic since he got here. Doppo finally made something that doesn't immediately want to destroy him or be destroyed itself. ]

Not at all! It takes a lot of skill to know how to weave, I think. (If anything, it feels like I'm cheating.) I'm not that great with my hands.

But I'll do my best to make another for you! It really does make a difference when you try to sleep.

[ By cuter, then it must indeed, mean embarrassing...! ] We've been friends since childhood so that's a given, I guess.

[ Because that's all it is. Yup. Just them being bros. Bros that cohabit...room-share...same thing.

As far as Doppo knows, they'd just been friends this whole time but something as stupid as being kissed all over to undo a spell suddenly has unlocked some deep rooted feelings he's still afraid to admit.

She does not have to know this struggle either. ]

I know I was here before and that I just don't remember...but the fact that Hifumi had been alone since then did concern me.

He seems to be doing well though, so I'm glad for that.

This may sound kind of formal but I mean it when I say thank you for watching out for him.

[ Embarrassing only means a lot of cuteness between them. That Hifumi has been able to have so many memories with Doppo is beautiful to her—

And she smiles as she reads the texts to herself. ]

We've been staying together as long as we've been able.
Though I cannot be in his presence all the time... you know why.
I'm glad to do as much for him as his friend.

But I'm far more glad that you're here.
'tis a lot easier to bear a place like this when someone knows you, after all.

[ Megumi's so kind and just an overall good person...it's no wonder that she and Jakurai were together. It's a relationship he's only learned from Hifumi when he first arrived here (again), but the more he gets to know her, the more he sees why and the more it saddens him that Matenrou's leader is no longer here. ]

Yes, a few that I recognize but there had been others I don't recognize that said they have met me back home.

It was distressing a bit a first...I thought it was just me that was affected, but it seems to be a common occurrence with some people here.

Still, I feel bad that I can't remember anything. If there's anything I might have said to you that seems off, I'm very sorry.

[ Hifumi and the friends she's made have kept her from feeling alone here and she owes them that care in return. She misses Jakurai immensely, though, every day... but she has some of him in Hifumi, and Doppo around. ]

It just means that we get to be friends all over again!
And I'm more than happy to look after you while Jakurai isn't here.

Do you know how he was faring, before you arrived here?

[ Doppo can't help but allow himself to smile as he "likes" each message. ]

He was doing well, I think. One of the last things I remember was fishing with him and Hifumi. [ It's not the complete truth. There had been conflicts with others but she doesn't need to know that. Or she probably knows already. Even with Jakurai's absence, Doppo still believes Matenrou's strong as ever.

But even Doppo can't bring himself to just leave it at that. ]

To be honest, sometimes he appears to have a lot on his mind but I usually would refrain from asking...

[ Doppo's polite to a fault as it is but before Jakurai became his friend and his leader, he was doctor. ]

Hifumi never had that problem though. That guy just dishes out words and I always have to reel him back.

[ Cutie... though the mention of how Jakurai is doing makes her gaze soften and her heart ache. It's been long enough that she doesn't get sad about it, but she does miss him a lot. ]

Aye, he used to keep a lot close to himself.
Though I did get him to stop doing that, a bit.
He told me about the troubles you all were having...
And his own...

I'm glad he has you and Hifumi, there.
I think of him often.
He told me all about rapping, and Shinjuku, and his work!
Modern medicine sounds so wonderful.
And all the new tools, that I used to handle by hand!

I'm not very good at using them, though.

I'm amazed he told you that much! [ He's hardly offended, but definitely surprised. It's a relief for Doppo to learn that Jakurai was able to open up as much as he did with Megumi as his confidant. ]

I'm not sure what you mean, to be honest.

I'm not much of a handyman...

I suppose I do help troubleshoot machines at work but that hardly counts...
