[ A pic of a gray blanket is posted neatly folded on a bed along with a hand making a peace sign. Said hand looks like it could use some lotion and a hand mask but who cares. His fu-dog familiar, Goma, sits right by it with a wide doggy smile, like a proud little guardian. ]

It's not much, but I made a weighted blanket.

[ The 15th is also his dirty thirty birthday, but this accomplishment completely overshadows those thoughts as he had been struggling with his magic since he got here. Doppo finally made something that doesn't immediately want to destroy him or be destroyed itself. ]

That looks really nice! I'm sure your teacher's proud of you and your hard work. [ As a former tutor himself, he understands there's a special sort of pride when your students succeed. ]

I've never made a blanket before, but I can't imagine it was easy.

It's been challenging, for sure...especially for someone like me who hasn't had much luck or experience with magic in general.

[ It may or may not have helped that he just kept chanting how much he wanted to sleep when attempting to transmute the goods. ]

I get what you mean... it took me a while to get a handle on my own magic, and even then I wouldn't say I'm very confident.

Did your home not have magic either?

[ Evidently, Doppo isn't confident with his magic either...he's not exactly at the level of being able to say that he can handle it, but at least nothing's being thrown around this time! ]

Not the same kind of magic as what we see here, no. Magic mostly refers to tricks with cards and such things, you know? [ The hypnosis mics don't count. That is actually science. ]

So I am definitely out of my element here...

I'm the same way. Before coming here, I'd only hear of magic like this in stories. [ ... excluding his experience with the torment doll, and the other dorm mysteries. He's not sure how to explain that stuff outside of "it happened". ] But you kinda get used to it eventually. The more you're exposed to it, the easier it becomes to understand, you know? So I'm sure you'll become more comfortable with time.

I'm not sure about that. [ The fact that the timing of his arrival aligned when magic was acting up for everyone on top of all of the other weirdness...yeah, it'd be a lie if he said he's not worried about whatever comes next. ]

Whenever I would think things can't get any weirder, this place proves me wrong every single time.

Life back home was stressful but at least it was predictable.

It's definitely been a weird couple of months... But I'm hopeful things will settle down soon.

I've been here since August, and this is the worst things have been. [ Which is maybe a reassurance...? Hopefully? Who knows? ]
