Okay, so this is the coolest place I've seen.
( hello, Avalon. welcome to the life and times of an excitable, gushing teenager. she swings her phone camera around with the ease of any good teenager and shows off... well, typical Camelot architecture. houses built into trees, rain puddling down in chunks as it rolls off the leaves shielding her from the worst of the April weather. )
You guys, like, really live like this? How do you heat a house when it's attached to a tree? Isn't that, like, a fire hazard?
( look, they didn't teach her much about nature back in Dewell but they did teach her that trees = wood = burn-y. )
Oh, so, um, funny story! I was, like, scrolling while I was on my way here and ended up with a job selling bags! ( ah. there's the reason this video's happening. Rosa moves the camera back to her to reveal a handbag in, well, her hand. )
I've got a buncha 'em still for sale so, like, tell me which you want! Otherwise they're gonna get — ( her words are cut off by a shrill yelp as a giant blob of water drops down her neck. ugh, cold. so cold. ) — soaked! Like me, okay, byeeeeeeee!
( yeah, a girl's gotta turn this off and find a place to hide from all this rain. )

I mean, I guess if they can cast spells which provide insulation? Or maybe there's a heating spell that's, like, not fire based!
( sorry, JJ, she likes asking questions. )
If we figure it out, we could, like, make weird work for us!
( could you, theoretically, use magic to create better transport? the horses are cute and all, but it took so long to get here from the springs. )

[ He laughs. ]
Like...it can make plants grow or you can make potions or whatever.
Plus... It's kinda neat to have a fire running. Like, there's a nice cozy vibe.

now, Rosa is no historian, and she's pretty sure even historians back on Astaria have questions they shouldn't be asking, but she knows that technology exists because magic existed. because magic was terrible and hurt people, or so it was said. technology was better, because everyone can use it.
but she is magic. in a way. maybe she's not doing flashy lightning work like a stormblood, but she is magic. and she wonders what it would be like if that wasn't a thing which came with a whole load of baggage. a need to hide. a permanent barrier between herself and normal.
but all she says is; )
I guess that's how it is with us and tech. ( she plasters a smile back on her face as she speaks. everything in the city is run on technology. from keeping the rain from hitting Dewell to how people heat their homes and get from place to place. )
So is there, like, an Avalon for Beginners website I can use?
( the thought of school crosses her mind, but there's no way she can afford it. especially when she's spent two years out of school already. )

[ He sounds like a nice guy, too. Just... energetic. ]
Yeah, it was like that with tech at home for me, too. And the place I was before here, too. I promise you'll get used to it.
