(A large grey direwolf is howling not far from her, her fluffy tail wrapped around her great paws. Sansa listens to the song, happy to share it with any listeners. There are words that are too old for language and they deserve to be heard.

After the performance is concluded and the wolf launches herself into the dark, unafraid, Sansa finally speaks:)

What do they know? Why do they bind themselves to us?

(She understands why a direwolf was drawn to her. The bird has shed her feathers and grown fur, fangs and claws instead.)

I am what is known as a "Heroic Spirit". When a person accomplishes sufficient legend in life, they become part of the Throne of Heroes when they pass on, able to be summoned to aid others in times of need.

[ That was... simplistic. And at least partially inaccurate. But it was how she preferred to put it. ]
