Obligatory intro post / Video / CL-55

Um... right, introductions. Hm... Okay!

It's nice to meet all of you! I'm a member of The Knights of The Sea, and the big sister of the Cleveland-class... The USS Cleveland, hull number CL-55! But I guess that's obvious from my name alone. I fought through the Battle of Rennell Island, the Battle of Empress Augusta Bay, plus many others, and I earned around 13 battle stars, so I'm pretty strong!

[No, wait pretty much no one here would recognize any of that. Excuse her as she goes ahead and rubs the back of her head in embarrassment and gives a small chuckle.]

A-anyway... I'm looking forward to helping you all out anyway I can! If any of ya have any questions for me, or words of advice let me know. I know I've got a couple questions of my own.

Oh, nah, not a battleship. I mean, I'm really strong! But no where near as strong as Washington, and not even close to New Jersey.

[Gray, girl... babe, sometimes you just gotta accept some things. Like a girl claiming to be a warship in a place with magical fairy people.

[ There might be fairy people, but in her own way she's used to things like fairies and magic. Someone claiming to be an inanimate object is news even to her. And that's what it sounds like, though it seems more like some far away place... America?

Maybe it's an American thing. ]

[Absolutely an American thing. 100% all-american! Complete with stars and stripes socks! Just wait until she starts talking about the Royal Navy and their fleet of maids.]

Ah, not much of one for ships then. Hm, basically I'm a light warship that usually protects other ships, goes out on raids and assists with landings. Things like that.

I mean... me and my sisters are usually more heavily armed than most, but we're still light cruisers 'cause of our weight class....

[No, hang on she was rambling now and the other person most likely had no clue what she was muttering about.]

But... well if you don't get it that's fine. So have ya been here long?

[ Frankly, she doesn't know as much as she should about the modern world and modern warfare. A lot of it's just words to her, so what she gets from the other's rambling is that she's 100% correct.

The person on the other end is claiming to be a warship and that's more seemingly confusing than magic and faeries.

She doesn't linger on it and, in fact, took a moment to process the other was continuing the conversation in a different direction: ]

[Whatever all those other things mean, Venat is not going to try to parse them. Most of the words make sense individually, but context is a terrible master.]

Yeah I'm settling in alright. I mean I still have some questions for a few of the people livin' here. But all kosher so far.

Everyone here's been real friendly haven't they. It's helped make settlin' in that much easier.

[Not quite the answer to her question, but that was all fine! So long as the woman in question wasn't on death's door or anything.]

So what sort of questions did you have for 'em?

If I thought anyone had the answer, I would ask. These are greater concerns, ones perhaps without easy answer. "Why me," and "why now," by way of example.

[ He looks a little embarrassed because of his excited babble, then smiles sheepishly as he gives a slight bow. ]

Excuse me for getting carried away, I just really love ships of all kinds. My name is Rider, I run the Sakamoto Detective Agency. I might be able to answer your questions.

[Yes Ryouma, go on and fanboy. For it is one of the Unsinkable Clevelands, and best girl.]

Hehe, so you know about me and my sisters huh? You've got a good eye don't you. Yeah, you can say that we are really impressive in our own right!

[She goes ahead and flexes one of her arms! All grins and bright smiles.]

But it's nice to meet you Mr. Rider! As far as questions go... hm... Guess the first one is do you know of anyone that might be able to figure out how to get naval guns workin'? Like modern naval guns.

[She'll go ahead and move herself aside to show her rigging sitting off to the side. How she got in the room... well that's anyone's guess. Some questions are best not asked.]

I can't say I know about you and your sisters specifically, no, but I'd always love to learn more. Perry's Black Ships had an incredible impact on my life, to say the least, and I've been fascinated with ships of all sorts since then.

[ As for her question, though, he shakes his head. ]

Mm, that I'm afraid I don't know...There are smiths around, but I'm not sure if any of them specialize in firearms, especially not ones that advanced.

Perry's Black Ships? Oh! You mean those guys! Heh, I guess they would have been real impressive for their time. But if you wanna know more about me and my sisters I wouldn't mind tellin' ya.

[She can only imagine how excited he might get if she was Enterprise, or New Jersey. Then again, maybe excitement wasn't the right word?]

Ah- guess it might be too good to be true. Then again, this ain't the first time somethin' like this happened during a similar setup... not to me! But someone else I knew. [She hums in thought for a moment, giving her guns and hull a frown before leaning back with a sigh.] Mah, I guess I'll have to try and do some maintenance on 'em myself. Or see about usin' some of that magic-what'sits to help power 'em back up. Doubt they'd pack the punch they did, but... well I get the feelin' that you guys might like the firepower anyway.

They were as impressive as they were scary! [ Frightening that such strong powers were knocking on the door of the country, so to speak. ] But...yes, if you're willing, I'd love to know more.

[ Ryouma can get a little bit excited about his interest in ships, so he's trying to not be too much. ]

I can't say I'm much for violence, but it's always good to have someone ready to fight in case we do need it.

It takes him a moment to imagine the individual as the USS Cleveland... But, he's met the spirit of a nation already. The spirit of a ship is not much of an extra stretch.]

I should warn you, there are a lot of Japanese people here. However, none appear to be from the war.

I guess that kinda bothers me a tad...? I mean, it's not something that I'll lash out about, if that's what you're worried of. Sirens though, they'd be different. [The last bit was said at a whisper. Beyond that, there were far more pressing matters at hand.]
