You know I never thought I’d get this back while I was here. It never did fit quite right, but it is a male’s uniform.

[She was currently finishing up some adjustments to her traditional uniform. The bear skin hat sitting off to the side nearby, while officer’s saber was strapped secure to her side. Short hair tied up in a tight bun and a number of honors pinned to her chest. She probably looks near the part of a nutcracker if the uniform itself didn’t look so very crisp and official.

In hindsight it was probably a bit silly to ask for such a thing. But to feel it on her and see herself in it again made her feel… well a bit more comfortable with herself. She smiles and giggles before saying, in a low mock of a male’s voice.]

“België, as the Battlefield of Europe, you and your brothers must at least project the look of strength. And that, starts with proper clothes and armor.”

[Another giggle followed by a sigh and shake of her head. Placing the hat on her head as the final touch.]

If you say so, Mr. Charlemagne… Anyway! How do I look? Do you all think it’s a bit much? I mean we are potentially meeting with a queen after all!

[She does a little turn, still smiling away!]

Oh, and maybe I should do a blue beret sometime in the future too, considerin' that I'm also technically a UN representative... and really the only one here.

[One thing at time though! She certainly seems excited about it at the very least!]

[ She'd been just about to compliment how sharp Anri looked in her regalia, but something else caught her attention and she leaned in close to the camera. ]

You knew Charlemagne?!

[ More accurately, it was probably the "true" Karl de Grosse and not the "fantastic" Charlemagne of legend, surely, but even so, Gareth couldn't help by be in awe. ]

[Ah- she pauses before nodding her head.]

Hm? Oh, well yes! A lot of people forget he was born near modern Liege, he was also the boss for most of us at that time. Goodness! I was very small back then too!

[There was a bit of a wistful smile. It would be the true Charlemagne. But that still doesn't mean he wasn't fantastic. Not to Belgium.]

...Hmmm, I suppose a young knight would be familiar with his stories~.

Actually...

[ Gareth flashed a grin. ]

All of that came after us! You could say it was the legend of my King an our knighthood that inspired Charlemagne and his paladins! [ Gareth laughed brightly. ]

But I still yearn to meet the man himself, perhaps challenge him to a joust! I was good friends with the two of his paladins that were part of Chaldea, Sir Astolfo and Sir Bradamante!

Did he? I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was the other way around...

[Then again, different worlds mean different things. If Mr. England was here, he'd probably be more inciteful on the matter.]

Hm... I do remember him being quite the ambitious sort. People like saying he was really pious, but I recall being a bit of a horn dog at times. I think that might be where Mr. France got it from. Oh, but he was quite sincere in helping others! And did enjoy reading and teaching others to read and write! I'm sure if he ever does show up here, he would love to meet you!

Astolfo and Bradamante though... Hm... I can't say I remember much about those two. I do remember that they were always quite nice to me, and it sounds like you enjoyed being around them as well!

They're a fun lot to have around. They fit right in with us Camelot knights, for sure!

[ Gareth nodded, briskly. ]

Ah, but actually, is that your regalia? It suits you really well!

Heh, I'm glad~! I'm sure they probably get to be a bit of a handful at times.

[Oh! But the uniform itself.]

Yes! Or, one of them. I've got others, but the traditional uniform for the Grenadiers is still used during important ceremonies. It also makes, and leaves, a lasting impression.

[In addition to helping her look much, much bigger!]

...You really think it suits me though? You don't think it's too much?

You look great in it!

Though... [ Knowing what it was all for... ] I'm not sure the fae will appreciate it the way I do. I can't say how they'll react.

Hm, probably not I suppose. Chances are they may not appreciate it at all.

...Maybe it is a bit much.

Perhaps without the hat? I find removing just my helmet when I'm in my armor creates a more at ease look, despite still wearing everything else!

I mean, you always look deceptively at ease, even in your armor~. Hm, but I get what you mean. Still, the hat is sort of meant to go with it to help complete the look... But alright....

[She goes ahead and takes the bearskin off for now, keeping already short hair tied up in a bun.]

How about now? [She'll go ahead and back up, doing a little turn~! Still smiling, obviously fond of the getup.]

Just as elegant, but a bit more relaxed! [ Gareth nodded, enthusiastically. ]

Mm... if you think so.

[A pause.]

So, you appreciate seeing a woman uniform, hm~?

[beaumains]

Hm? How do you mean?

[ You could almost imagine her like a dog tilting its head in confusion. ]

[Oh no, oh precious...! Just, she wants to pat her head now.]

Oh, you know, like... well liking a person in uniform. Finding uniforms and their wearers attractive.

[Sob, the potential to tease here has lost its edge. Dang it Gareth, you're way too precious for your own good at times!]

Hmm... [ Gareth leaned back, reaching across to rub a bit at her own shoulder. ]

In truth, I never really thought about it. Regalia as you understand it is a concept that kind of happened after my time had ended. But I still like it! It feels like a natural extension of my fascination with knighthood in general...

Hm... I suppose this sort of dress didn't come about until quite a bit after you. But thank you... I'm glad you like it!

...Would you like to try wearing it? Or a uniform?

[beaumains]

Heh, I bet I'd cut quite the image in one, huh? I could rope my uncle into it, too! Dress like proper modern knights, you know?

Heh~. Honestly, I think you'd look good no matter what you dress in! [Her mind is swimming in all sorts of ideas for uniforms and suits that they could try on!]

But yes! If you have the time, we could absolutely make you your own uniform to wear! Maybe one of Mr. England's or my own. I also wouldn't mind if you wanted to bring your uncle or others along as well, if they want to join in.

May I ask why you're wearing a male uniform?

[resistetmords]

Oh-- because soldiering had been primarily a male thing. [She is super happy to report that many of those barriers have (semi-mostly) been dissolved... -ish.]

So, a lot of my older and more traditional uniforms are originally designed for men. Especially the Grenadiers. I've had them refitted and remade, of course! Especially my older ones like this. You can't march in a parade if you're constantly tripping over your pants! Not that they really needed much of a change... well maybe for the chest and length.

So this is celebration for something related to your home realm?

Oh, well yes. It's Christmas time coming, or Yuletide. Some of its similar to what's celebrated here.

But that's only part of why I broke this out!

Well, I figured this is supposed to also be like an official visit to the Fairy Queen, yes?

So, it only makes sense that we dress our best for it.

Hmmm... I'm of two minds about it. This world still irks me in so many ways, especially its leaders and how they treat us... but I can't truly act ill-mannered towards any royalty.

Mm, I suppose I understand that... Then think of it this way, there's a holiday coming up, two actually! You can also just think of it as dressing up in your beset for it.

... Well now, it'd hardly behoove me to do otherwise. Even if I do not enjoy this world, a stubborn thumb among healthy hands would be most unseemly!

That's one way to put it? I bet you've got quite a few cute dresses lined up for all sorts of occasions!

I was saving some here and there... and meeting otherworldly royalty is certainly special occasion on its own.
