Video / E.A. Poe - A drink To anyone that can complete this line "Quote the Raven"
Ah--
This is a nostalgic feeling. A dark day with snow falling from the sky. Tinkling and draping itself upon the ground. A glass of hot apple toddy in hand and book in the other.
[He closes his eyes as a familiar voice ring in his alcohol hazed mind. "Edgar--! Get your coat on...! There's new snowfall!" He can here the young woman's voice plain as day, her laughter... her coughing. He smiles lightly and takes another drink. His familiar, the infamous Snallygaster, sat curled up above the recliner Poe was sitting in.]
"Apple Toddy. Two wine glasses of ‘Apple Jack’; one tablespoonful of white sugar; half of a baked apple. Add boiling water and nutmeg. This drink ought never to be made with a suspicion of weakness." Perfect for a cold night such as this. Enjoyed in the company of those you love--
["Edgar-- I feel cold..." A cough in his head, a splatter of dark red and the squeeze of a soft hand. His familiar breathed out a hissing huff. Poe took another, deeper drink.]
...To warm the soul. Well, in any case what sort of stories do you prefer in such weather and times?

Video; un: Shoto - (nevermore?)
Supernatural, I guess... [He's eyeing the glass.] I don't think I can drink yet.
[Guessing here. He's never been interested.]
What's that above you?

As for that damnable creature. That is the Snallygaster. A native to the equally damnable state of Maryland.

You know more stories? [The thing that matters—though his interest's in Snallygaster.]
Is your friend a pain too?
o btw ur reward is a shot of apple brandy. ~8 years old and 35% ABV :D
Oh yes-- a true menace back home. Or at least, so legend says. A giant, winged beast that swoops down from high in the sky to snatch up men, women, children, and animal alike. Draining them of their blood and dropping their pale corpses down to the ground below where they go splat.
But yes, I know of plenty stories. And am known as an accomplished writer myself during my time.
Thank you! But would you believe I'm allergic to apples?
He's wondering at Snallygaster.]
All that? [That's too dangerous!] Does that mean you don't trust him?
[Thinking of Kasha,]
I don't— we don't exactly have a choice in that, with things attached to us.
[His next is quiet.] I'd like to hear those stories. If that's alright.
i shall wave a magic stick that beats away food allergies~!
[Which is to say... he doesn't.]
Ah-- but yes, hm... give me a moment to think and remember.
[Which one... which one?]
Time to try cider!
I'm Shoto, by the way. [Filling the silence.] Thanks for taking the time for this. [Ah...] Poe-sensei.
[Attempting politeness. He did say "writer", didn't he?]

[ Not only that but he ought to stop drinking. Wasn't the first time, wouldn't be the last. But she knew better than to say it, twas a lost cause arguing this with people who were lost in alcohol. Actions spoke louder than words. Maybe she should conspire with his familiar to prevent him from getting his hands on alcohol again. ]
I'm not too far from where you are, should you need a hand.

[He is inside, and pans away from his window to the rest of his room at the inn. A row of books lined up with various titles. And a bottle of that wonderful brandy sitting on a side table near his recliner. Surprisingly it isn't empty. As for his familiar--
Well the thing's pretty evil so it probably wouldn't end all that well.]
But I thank you for your offer of help my dear! No, I'm afraid all I require help with is help in ending my current boredom and suggestions for new books.

[ That or her player is really dumb and misread the initial post. Could go either way really! She smiled sheepishly before looking more confident at the mention of book suggestions. ]
Suggestions for new books I can do! [That was her specialty in this world.] Would you consider reading Jules Vernes' books? He was a prolific writer and while you may not know him, he was inspired by your work.

[He takes a drink from the makeshift cocktail and lets out a pleased sigh and purse of his lips with closed eyes. Yeah, it's good. Verne again though... it teased him. "Tell me Mr. Poe-- have you heard of a French author named Jules Verne? He reminds me of you."
We'll just ignore that Verne published his first work way later.]I may consider doing just that. Tell me, what sort of titles has he under his bibliography, and may I be able to find them here?
[You can find Chaucer here among others, apparently. So why not Verne?]

[ Truth to be told, she was tired for other reasons. Mostly, everything she had done through of late. She liked winter, but for less than commendable reasons. Namely the thought that it was the perfect season to cuddle with a boyfriend or girlfriend.
... Monika can be single-minded. ]
I would recommend one of the Voyages Extraordinaires. I'm not an expert in his works, but I read a few and they're all outstanding works. [She raised a finger.] They're stories about, well, extraordinary voyages, ahaha! Like going to the center of the earth, the moon or deep under the seas.

Nothing to see here, but regular teenager things with regular teenager worries~! Poe totally understands that, having been such a mythical being once before in his life!]
Ah-- "Fantastique littéraire". The one with the moon though, what was that one titled as?
[Because that doesn't sound familiar at all!]

From the Earth to the Moon! It's a classic, you can't go wrong with it.
[ One of the few of his she had read, to boot! ]
