A lot of it has to do with old grudges, like wars between the Nords and the elves centuries ago. Or it can be from more recent tensions, such as the Stormcloak Rebellion currently going on in Skyrim.

Other times, it just comes from being raised to believe that your culture is better than everybody else's.

I think... you're right. ( there are too many cruel humans back home to think that things could ever be peaceful. even if the humans here are kinder, enough that Century Egg wants to trust them again, he doesn't know if he can ever extend that same courtesy to the humans of Tierra.

maybe if Red Wine approved them. but only then. )
