For those of you who knew them, both Makoto Kino and Haruka Tenou have gone home. A few months back Ami Mizuno also left us. I know I will miss them a lot. They are all from the same world as I am. I am blessed to still have Usako and Minako here with me.

[He's not sure what he'd do if he was all on his own. That would be ... different. Most likely he would be fine, but he's glad he doesn't have to find out.]

There's a garden in our house that both me and Makoto took care of. Of course I will continue working on it, but if any green mages would like to come around to practice their skills with it, that would be fine with me. It's nearing winter, so getting the garden prepared for that is very high on my priority list.

At least I should be able to give them plenty of light during winter with light magic.

Oh dear, I’m sorry to hear that some of your friends are now gone, Mamoru. I actually met Ami at Diamond Falls during the Summer Solstice before she left: we were ritual partners at the time.

Ami is a brilliant person with a lot of intelligence. I'm not at all surprised she participated in the ritual.

Yeah, it was really great to do the ritual with her and we were able to help a lot of people in getting around the room when the lights went out.

I haven't heard much about what went on at the ritual. What was it like?

Well from what I was told, we need to give a piece of ourselves to our partner, the partner then does the same to us, drop said pieces onto the lava, then the sun and moon can be renewed again. While the room was dark, we have to find our way around and help out anyone who need help to get around.

After a while, the steam gets heated up to the point that a cenote is revealed with the breaking of a stained glass door and everyone can hang out in there. And oh, there is a lot of singing as well, which is how I ended up discover a new hobby of mine.

That sounds interesting... not really anything I've read from books back home. Goes to tell how different rituals can be in different worlds.

I agree too. I don’t think my world has rituals similar to the ones here in Avalon, even though magic is present in there.

That may be for the best. Rituals can be a very dangerous thing in wrong hands.

Same here. I know that the seasonal rituals can be scary at times and they can have some terrifying results like in the last year’s Winter Solstice: we had the Black Knight running around in the forest and wild rainstorms pouring down on Camelot.

I wonder if they're planning on a similar ritual this year. It is nearing winter solstice, after all.

I am also thinking of the same thing as well. Haven’t heard too much about the plans for this winter’s event just yet.

We’ll just have to wait and hear from King Arthur, Merlin, and the others for any updates on that soon.

You're most welcome to. The garden was a project by me and Makoto, so now there's a lot of work... so plenty of opportunity to practice.

[ No matter whether it's in the house or in the garden - Minako will find Mamoru, okay. She will hunt this man down the moment she sees the post. Because whereas Minako is entirely comfortable just ignoring the absence of their friends on a personal level, since it's easier to hide that stuff deep down, Mamoru did sound bothered by it.

And Minako is not about to let Usagi and Mamoru get bothered by it, if she can help it even just a little bit.

It's why she just smiles when she does find him. ]

[Mamoru can be found from the garden, giving some extra energy to some of the more cold-vulnerable plants. He looks up when he hears someone walking towards him and smiles lightly.]

Hey Minako. You saw my post, huh?

[Why else would she suddenly ask that.]

I'll be fine. Don't worry about me too much.

[ It's very unsurprising to find him in the garden, really. It's one of the first places that she went to look for him, so Minako thinks she's lucked out with the fact that he's actually there when she comes to look. ]

Hey, hey. Who said I was worrying?

[ Please, Minako. You're always worrying. But she seems to be lightly joking as she says that anyway, judging by the way she smiles. ]

Maybe it's just the duty of the goddess of love and beauty herself to look out for everyone. [ .. or maybe it's her duty as a soldier to look out for Usagi - and therefore for Mamoru in turn, considering how big of a part of Usagi's happiness he is, but ssh. ] And I guess quite a few of us have left pretty recently.

[Mamoru felt kind of at loss, regarding "duty". This wasn't Earth, he didn't have his powers. What was there to protect about him?

Of course, he didn't really voice these thoughts out loud very much... and Usagi was still worth everything in his eyes. It was complicated.]

The house does feel emptier now.

We could always invite new people.

[ Though she does suppose that it wouldn't be the same. Especially since it's not like their friends from back home can be replaced - nor even the other people in the house, who Mamoru and Usagi knew for longer than Minako has even been here.

But it's not like mourning their loss is going to make them happy, so.. ]

I know this sort of thing can hurt, but.. it's not going to be forever. We'll see Mako-chan and Haruka-san again as soon as we go home.

[Mamoru doesn't feel like it's replacing anyone. Just using the space given to them smartly and helping others.]

[ There's a faint moment where Minako seems surprised, but then she just hums. ]

[ Her brain immediately starts whirring, trying to think of the people she's met in this place. A lot of people did seem like they had their own place already, but..

Minako lets out a sound of surprise. ]

Oh, definitely Monika-chan! She's one of my friends here. I heard she was planning on moving out of the inn to go live somewhere all by herself.. Isn't that way too sad and lonely?

As well as can be expected, I guess. Mostly just trying to do what I can to help the survivors, so they're as comfortable as they can be even with how cramped everything is.
