[Video. UN: Rubitsune] Not Rocks For Brains, That's For Sure

[ The video starts on a particularly tired looking Ruby, the girl looking none-too-pleased and much-too-exasperated. She appears to be in an inn room. ]

Okay. I think it's time for me to finally admit that I need help figuring something out. I am trying to figure out what stones are useful for green mages, specifically with helping either concentration or control. I keep reading books but it seems like every one of them has a different answer, or there are details I don't really understand and...

I just want to find a stone that may help me train my green magic since it is... [ She pauses and purses her lips a moment before speaking again. ] Well saying my green magic is excitable would kind of be understating it. It's gotten better, but it still all rushes out really fast the moment I'm not working with dried plants, and that is sort of a problem since it's all used up before I really get any practice in.

In return for information I offer a nice meal, since my magic does behave for dried herbs and spices, and I've been learning from the cooks at the inn!

Was there not an expedition to the mountain recently which allowed one to forage for stones to augment one's magic?

[ 'Recently', he says. It was a few months ago. ]

I see. I found a book in a library detailing the magical properties of certain rocks and have been using it as a reference when crafting amulets.

I believe you do not need any enchantments to use them as a focus for spellcasting. But it would seem your issue is that they work a little TOO well.

In circumstances like that, I would advise you to find something that would allow you to passively expend a portion of your aether at a constant rate. Then it would not leave you all at once when you attempt a very specific spell.

By 'aether' I mean whatever passes for magic in this world.

'Twas not an uncommon problem for me to see where I am from. With enough of it present, aether can become sentient after a fashion.

I can no longer see the nature of things so I cannot say for certain in regards to this land, but aether is the foundation of life. Why would it not be alive in its own right?

Instead of focusing your magic on a single point, release it across a wider area throughout the day and spread it thin. Then the effects will not be felt so strongly and it will not surge when you do wish to cast a spell.
