( It's been a little over a week since the anonymous post was open to everyone and he had a rather unfortunate conversation with someone close to him. Asriel hasn't really sought company. He's used to being alone, after all. At the same time, he can't keep looking at the empty bed across from his. It's just gotten painful for him at this point.

He doesn't want to use video this time. Asriel doesn't really want to worry anyone. A part of him is even ready to settle into the woods until things blow over. If they blow over. )

[Familiars are all different, and take their responsibilities looking after their charges differently, too. Perhaps because Asriel is younger, and a bit more dependent than she is, his familiar sought to look after him more closely. Ochako is older, has a lot of real world experience, and can defend herself in a pinch even without magic. Plus, the dire wolf spirit is, well...very large and can't easily fit in Ochako's now much smaller space.]

That's right!! She's a white wolf, but really REALLY BIG!!
I think it depends?? I know Aludra-san comes and goes a lot, so she must have other things to do in the fae world than take care of me all the time.
But I'm okay with that!! If I need her, she comes when called.

[And Ochako's going to go silent for a tiny bit after that, replying only short words, emojis, or leaving Ariel on read for a bit. She has to get cooking!! And this particular recipe takes a bit of concentration... But after a while, Asriel will get a knock on his door and a tiny voice saying "Room service, ehehe!" and then she walks off. Under a plastic cloche provided by the lovely staff at the inn (and use of their kitchen), is a delicious stack of fluffy souffle pancakes - Mama Uraraka's specialty!]

( Asriel doesn't fail to notice how Ochako goes silent then, but he figures that she must be busy. When he hears both the knock and her voice, he can't help but stop - making his way to the door.

Carefully, he'll take the newfound gift inside, and when he does end up uncovering the desert and seeing what Ochako made for him, he can't help but feel touched. After what he's done to hurt Chara, he doesn't really feel like he deserves such kindness, but... there's a selfish part of him that wants to accept the things that his new friends want to do for him after hesitating to do so for some time here.

After a while, Ochako will receive another message from Asriel. )

[Mostly all of what Asriel gets in response to his previous texts about their familiars are emojis in response - mostly the thumbs up one to signify she agrees. It's easier and faster to respond that way while she is working, and soufflé pancakes like her mom would make take a damn lot of concentration to maintain the airy, fluffy goodness. And good they are! That bite is moist, sweet, but not overpowering. It's light and airy as it should be, and almost seems to melt on the tongue. Ochako's not a gourmet chef by any means, but the recipes she inherited from her family are those tiny few that she can craft with the skill and excellence of a true professional. This is one of them, because they were he favorite thing to eat for breakfast growing up, even if they took a lot of care and time to make.

Once she's back in her room, Ochako actually has the ability to text back at last, smiling down at the message warmly. She doesn't know the inner turmoil that her little friend has gone through, or the wrongs he's committed, or the guilt he harbors in his heart. She knows none of it, but everyone who tries to do their best to atone for their mistakes, to learn from them and grow from them, deserves to be shown kindness and care. That's something Ochako would argue strongly over.]
