Exactly. The more we know about how to defend ourselves the less people will feel the need to get themselves wounded on our behalf, too, and while I personally don't worry too much about that, I've known kids who do. [ If someone gets hurt because they assume she can't defend herself that's hardly her problem. Not when she definitely knows how to keep herself safe. ] The more competent the least of us is, the better it is for all of us.
